JBL GTO Vs JBL GT5 Amps.

i am kind of totally confused about the power out put ratings of these amps
their prices, and series they belong to.

JBL GT5 A604

JBL Car & Marine Audio

JBL GT5 A402

JBL Car & Marine Audio

and

JBL GTO 504

JBL Car & Marine Audio

JBL GTO 752

JBL Car & Marine Audio

the GTO series is suppose to be a higher-better series and priced higher than the GT5 so why are the power ratings of the GT5 A604 higher that the GTO 504?

and the case with the two channels amps is the way they are suppose to be the GT5 A402 has lesser ratings compared to the GTO 752.

so in all which 4-channel amp is better comparison between the JBL GTO 504 and JBL GT5 A604?????

i am looking at one of these two amps for my cousin's brand new M800, and the specs on the paper have created the confusion while the cost of the GTO amp is slightly higher than the GT5. i am asking this because, we intend to go for a set of Comps and a small sub say 8" or a 10" in a sealed box.

please tell me the better of the two amps for this application.

EDIT: the comps in the question are JBL GTO 608c, and the sub in the question is GTO 804 or GT5 - 10 (depending on which ever i can get at the market but preferably the 8" for space constraint) or another brand 8" or 10" sub with 4 ohm impedance.

sam and gurus are you listening???

I was initially caught in this when I was check the figures, Though the GT-5 series have more output, if you check the other parameters such as S/N ratio and THD, then you will find that GTO range will have better figures. This make the difference I suppose, that is the GTO range is better than GT-5 in terms of SQ on paper, hence the cost difference.

I think the input-power stage of the GTO series is somewhat more robust than the GT5 amps. That would automatically translate into better/steadier/more stable power output during actual usage. I'm not completely sure about this and I'm sure Sam will know.

What about the JBL GTO75.4 II , how does it compare with the JBL GTO1004 ? Which one is recommended for more emphasis on SQ than Bass. I'm currently running a set of GT5 402 and GTO 937 off a Pio 7950UB.

Get the GTO 75.4 II i have this in my viva and the 1004 in my swift, i still find the 75.4 to be the sweet sounding one.

i compare both the amps with similar HUs 75.4 running off PIO 6850 and 1004 running off PIO 6950 so thats that.

Re: JBL GTO Vs JBL GT5 Amps.

I have bought on impulse all these here, and I don't know how to put these together.
1. Polk Audio - DB651 - 61/2 Coaxial - 60 watts RMS. for the front.
2. Polk Audio - DB690 - 6x9 - 3 way - 100 watts RMS, for the rear.
3. Pioneer - TS - W1208D4 - Sub, 1400 watts MAX & 400watts NOMINAL output.
Now I have no clue what to buy for the head unit and the Amplifier for my Corolla.
Please help me here.

Re: JBL GTO Vs JBL GT5 Amps.

I think the sub is dual 4-ohm which may not match the impedance of the bridged 4-ch amp.
I suggest you return the sub and get a JBL GT5-S12. You'll do far better.

Re: JBL GTO Vs JBL GT5 Amps.

It says 'Dual 4 Ohms subwoofer has the exibility to be wired at 2 or 8 Ohms to get the most from the amplifier'. What does that mean. And unfortunately I cannot return it since the place I bought it from was closing down its ICE business. So I have to make do with it. This the link which describes the sub;
Car Entertainment Systems
please take a look at it and advise.

Re: JBL GTO Vs JBL GT5 Amps.

@Zulfi:All the ICE Equipment bought are by far good since its a corolla you can go in for a double din from pioneer, for Amplification you can try the JBL1004 powering up the polk component + D4 subwoofer, get a 1.2cu.ft sealed subwoofer box built for the subwoofer and connect the coaxial direct to the rear of the Headunit.since you are in Bangalore you may contact Blueraven316 (satya) from EVO he will help you in precise installation + Tuning.
