Hi Guys,

The following is my current configuration -

Car : OHC Vtec 2001

HU : Pio6850 - DEH-P6850MP

Speakers : JBL GTO937 - JBL Car & Marine Audio

I want to add an amp, speakers/components for the front(something that fits into my door panels without having to cut the grill) and also a woofer.

Just to explain what i need -

1.Loudness but surly not at the cost of clarity(Both in the speakers and woofer)
2.Something which i dont have to worry about for at least 2yrs to come.
3.For now my budget is 10k. I know it may not be good enough.

please:help me in deciding on the combination which will work at the optimum level allong with my current setup.

What you need amigo, is a set of 6" component speakers, a 4 channel amplifier and a subwoofer (either ready-made enclosure or you make one)

First understand what are the items you need. Then you need to know what brand or model you need.
Others will be along to help you with this decision.

Good Luck!

For 10k, its difficult to get amp + component speakers + subwoofer. I suggest you just get the amp + comps right now and add the sub later, but even for that the budget is very low since installing an amp will mean an amp wiring kit also.

Thankyou for such a quick responce. What do u think shoud be my minimum budget for good config that goes allong best with what i have?

He he, your budget is good for the amp alone, maybe a little left over. Add another 4k to it & you will get a decent 4 channel amp & decent 6" comps. You can get the sub later.

ok lets assume that i am willing to spend about 15k. What can i get for this?

JBL 608C -Rs.4500
JBL GT5-A604- Rs.5,000
JBL GT5-12+ enclosure=Rs.4000
Install around 1k. Decent wiring around 2500 bucks.
All grey market prices.

Thanx a lot for the inputs, but that is way off my budget. Any reason for suggesting this particualr config? is it the starting range?

Jelabi lover isn't there anything else you can think of, beyond JBL ? lol:

Try the Illusions too.

@KSM-VTEC: Since you're strapped for cash now. Get the amp and the sub now. Power the rear 937s and the sub with the amp for now. Although the sound stage would be at the rear, there should be tremendous improvement from your current setup. :)

Soniye lover, you think you can suggest good stuff at that budget? Why don't you give it a try? And please don't suggest Saany! :p

Interesting observation.
Can any audio gurus throw light on this. Consider two setups.
1) Front components + 6x9s rear both running off a 4 channel amp.
2) Rear 6x9s and a "budget" sub. Both running off a 4 channel amp.
Which one will sound better?

Well now thats another way of looking at the whole thing. Will also be very important aspect if i decide to split the upgrade into 2 stages.

I guess either ways i will need another 2 channel amp to power the second stage:D

Come on is all ya Guru's of the ICE world enlighten us on the same . . .

I would prefer to give more importance to the front sound stage rather than the rear where it could be a nuisance for the rear passengers.

That could be for stage 3. At the 2nd stage you could just power the comps & the new sub with your 4 channel amp.

I'd rather keep the soniye & saani for someone special like you.

Ok guys lets get to the specifics. Which components, sub, amp do you recommend keeping my 6850DEH-P6850MP & 937JBL Car & Marine in mind.

Do i need 2 amps? or is it ok if i just have one 4 channel amp. Howmuch difference will it make?

Hi! You can consider to drive 6X9 rears and sub to be driven by a 4channel amp will be sounding better and just connect the front to the head unit directly.
