Dil Mange More in OCTY vRS!

Ahoy there soundsmiths,

First a disclaimer! IF a thread exists that covers these specific questions then please please direct me! My searching abilities were totally useless and wasted half an hour!!! (real loser searcher huh!?)

Heres the background

Skoda Octavia vRS
Stock Alpine HU
Stock Speakers
Sony 222 AMP
Sony Explode 12 inch subwoofer

I like to hear music with good bass. Thats about it.

The current setup sounds ho hmmm.

I`m looking to spend upto Rs.10,000 on this.

So cmon tell me what I should do!!

Please note that my "sound" sense is next to nill, so tell me in the simplest possible terms!

Thanks and once again, if there are answers to this particular question already, I`m sorry, please lead me to it.

Cheers

The head unit is good. It should be an Alpine 9830. It has 3 pre-outs, crossovers, time alignment etc.

Sell off the amp and sub. And after adding some money get:

1. A good 4-ch amp
2. Good front component speakers
3. A better sub ( 4 ohm SVC)

This should sort you out.

assuming that you get additional 3K from selling the stuff B&T told..

then given 13K.. go in for JBL 75.4 for 8K, JBL 607C for app 4K, and JBL GT4 12" in a ported box for app 4K, only 3K additional.

As usual, the budget has been overshot

Panky, didnt know that 607C comes for 4K. I cannot find a place where i can get one for less than 5K.

@Evo, so the budget has to be increased at least by another 5k to accomodate these basics and i have large doubts for your 222 and sub selling for 3k as well.

I am sure you must be cursing yourself for having started this thread

haha, I actually wondered if I should have stated only 5k in the first post!

However, in case I keep the sub and just change the amp and get the comps up front would that gimme the sound the way I want it?

Also should I put a steering wheel remote?

tyre wale bhaiyya, wiring speakers ke saath mein hi aati hai.. only thing he'd probably require is better power and ground cable, which i think LBM would be nice enough to provide. Yeah, he'd be needing one pair RCAs as well, no probs.. I can gift them for sure!

Checked some prices in cal from a dealer called Glix, this is what I got:

He said JBL 75.4 is replaced by 100.4 @ 15k
JBL 607C @7 k

All this is with the so called Bill and Warranty.

What say?

true.. 607C has been discontinued and replaced by 608C and since, I didnt find a difference in sound (though 608 looks cosmetically better) I recommended a 607C in grey. It should not be more than 4-4.2K. 607C official price is 6.5K (with B&W)

Contact/PM @shuvd. I believe he may have a nice big JBL active bass tube (ie a sub with a built-in amp) for sale. This used to do duty in his Octy Tpi till very recently.

Stuff is in good condition and in Kolkata and should be within your budget and probably provide you with the bass you need !

Your Sony Sub won't be able to take the power of a good amplifier. I suggest you change both the amp and the sub so that there is no bottleneck.

Add a pair of components and you're good to go.
