Ok. So i got what i was promised before entering this door. Confusion.

I who considered myself a good judge of audio, will now, have to re-access my capabilities after reading all the gurus here. I feel stupid:.

Anyways. I looked through the threads and tried to find the closest match to my requirements (which by the way were nothing to begin with), and now want so additional advice.

I am planning to buy a Getz Prime 1.3 GLS (will do the downpayment in a couple of days). And the first thing i noticed during the test run was, that their were provisions for speakers in both the front and the rear doors. The parcel tray looked, well like a parcel tray, and there is no chance in hell that i could modify it to fit in 6"x9" there. Unless i do a tray change, which i dont want to do at this point.

So it'll have to be the door that will have to carry the speakers. Now my budget is around 15 K ( but i will keep on adding stuff as i go along).

I was wondering:
  1. What is the best (nearly best) combination (Coax Vs.Components) that i should be looking at. (I know this could be a subjective thing, and i will of course listen to both before i finalise). Is there a rule of thumb which says that Coax in the front and component in the rear (or vice versa). Any suggestions?
  2. For point 1, could you please suggest the brand and models i should be looking at?
  3. I will be adding an amp and a sub in due course of time. What advice, suggestions fellas?
  4. I am looking at a HU which supports USB, CDs (even the ones i write) and bluetooth (this is not a must have, but a like to have feature)
  5. What about wiring? What do i need to keep in mind?
I understand that the 'quality of sound' is a very subjective matter, but will appreciate any inputs from everyone. please:

general advice is that if you drive its components in the front co-ax behind
brands avaible in your budget are JBL GT5 series or GTO,Blaupunkt ,Illusion Electra and Bull audio

All above brands will work well with an amp.
For the amp brands can be recommended only when you give a budget
Entry level amps are from Blaupunkt,Kenwood and JBL

if 15K is your budget for 4 speakers AND an HU you can go for the pioneer 3050

if you are not installing amp now then just go with the wiring thats provided with the speakers for now(certain brands may not provide - if so buy the regular speaker wire availble from any shop)
INMO only after buying an amp consider better wiring

Lastly if you read through all threads you will find all answers there

Hey Thanks Magma!

This is helpful. Ill probably add another 5k or so for the amp. Then maybe consider getting better wiring.

I read on one post about someone wanting an Aux, Bluetooth and USB features on the HU. I would like that too. Will start doing the hunting once i get the car.

Any pointers on good Moto -audio technicians in Pune?

*front comp-Jbl GTO 608c -rs 4500(grey) rs 6500 (With bill-1yr warr)
*rear coax-Jbl GTO 938 - rs 3000(grey) rs 5000(with bill - 1yr warr)
*4 channel amp- Jbl GT5 604 - rs 5400 (grey) rs 8000 ( with bill 1yr warr)
*I got all of them in grey,Finally after some bargaining. i got 600 rs discount.

So far i had a chance to experience infinity,Bull,Blaupunkt.
clearly JBL beats all of them.

But ,this is my experience. U hav to decide it with your own ears.

*Making a box for rear 6x9 will solve the problem. Also u can experince gud SQ.

Hope this helps.

Hey Vasant!clap:
Thats a cool set up!
Just got my car yesterday, will start souping it tomorrow onwards.

good choice of set up
Happy Listening Vasanthan
Enjoy!

Hey Guys!
Thanks for your inputs.
I got the following set up:
HU -Pinoeer DEC 3090 (Rs. 8500 with Bill)
Speakers- 2 front Components JBL GT 650 and 2 Rear JBL 2 way Coax (GTO 527) (rs 5000 + Rs 2500, with Bill)
For now this works fine. I am glad i listened to folks here and went for JBL. The sound is really neat.
I went to only one shop- Poona Motors in Camp, recommended to me by one office colleague. clap:
I must say, they know their job inside out! Highly professional, and gave me a lot of options to suit my budget. Their service standards are unheard of in Pune.
I plan to go their next month for the amp and Sub. Plan to add to rear 6x9" speakers, but then again, i don't want to over do it.

k10
please please no 6*9's if you gonna get a sub.:Frustrati
(Actually dont get them even if you arent gonna add a sub)
just amp your front and rear GTO527's and you should be good

6*9's need an MDF rack.this ends up taking away all the height in your dicky .PLus you have a getz whose seats double fold.with that silly MDF rack you will not be able to fully utilize that neat (double fold) provision!

its an other matter that i believe the 6*9's screw up your soundstage too

Magma, you are a saviour! cheers:

I will now direct the 6*9 fund towards the Amp.
And the rear parcel tray in the Getz is nice, and i dint feel like spoiling it!

Now, no worries.

Hello Folks,
Given my set up, what would be a good amp to install. Budget 4k (1k here or there possible).
Plan to install a sub sometime later, but would appreciate if you guys help me shortlist one now. Preferably a box or a tube, so that i can remove it if i need the space.
please:

Amplifier 5k range 3choices would be
JBL60.4,Blaupunkt MK2 4 channl,Kenwood KAC 8401

Sub
please mention budget.
Entry level are from the same brands above + Ground Zero
