Manikjeet's Zen ICE'd

So it all started a few months back with a basic equipment as follows:

HU: JVC DVD HU (without screen)
Components Front: JBL GTO 607C
Wiring: BOSS
AMP's: 2 x Desi Alpine 5400W
Subs: JBL 1202D and a GT5-12 in ported enclosure.

1 Alpine powering the DVC sub and other one Powering the compos and GT5-12. Tried to convince him to just a JBL A604 as 8401 was not available at that time

and use just 1 sub but you cannot mold a CRAZY DIY specially if is hes a SIKH.

He was quiet happy with the setup for months but after a session in my car he had some sleepless nights regarding upgrading his setup.

Suggested him to upgrade the AMP for components as they were pretty damn harsh, but how can this happen ??? He's a CRAZY DIYer and calls me at 1am and says

he read on forum that DESI ALPINE performs any day better than 8401. So i suggested him to buy a A604. But again how can that happen as he never heard that

amp. So he goes back to bugging me regarding amp.

So one fine day my ICE gives us a deal to try out the amp for free and compare it and if he likes it then buy it. Hooked 8401 amp to the compos and GT5-12.

Within seconds he approves that he wants the amp as the SQ has improved and harness he used to feel with DESI Alpine is not there.

Next we turn on the subwoofer GT5-12 (i disconnected the 1202D without him knowing). We start by playing some HIPHOP, RnB and hes quiet satisfied with the

output and the kick of the sub(s). But the real shocker was when he looked behind to pick up his phone.

Manik: DVC sub looks like not working.
Me: I know its not working.
Manik: i think we blew it up ?
Me: No no we didn't blew it up. I have not connected it yet.
Manik:

LOL. Earlier his 2 subs powered with desi alpine were unable to put that much smoother output. So he was quiet satisfied.

To be continued with pictures...

BIG Upgrade

Few days passed by and i get a call that he wants an HU upgrade because his current JVC HU doesn't have options for HPF, LPF etc etc. His eyes were stuck on Pio 6050 so we finalize it and we get it installed and set the gain on the 8401. Overall the SQ level increased with quiet a few handy options in pio HU's and now the subs are kicking better, smoother and harder.

NOW THE BIG UPGRADE

As hes a crazy DIYER and a regular visitor of ICE section he saw many SPL setups and finally decided to get a MONO. After a long healthy discussion decided that he will need a wiring upgrade too, as BOSS will not suffice the needs.

So finally the power kit and amp was finalized:
Powerkit: Scosche E3200
e2 E3200 by Scosche 4 Gauge Amplifier Wiring Kits Amplifier Installation Car Accessories and Installation Car Audio and Video - Sonic Electronix

MONO Amplifier: Kenwood KAC-9104D
Kenwood Corporation | Car Electroics | Power Amplifiers | KAC-9104D

Just installed it this thursday and i must say the SPL / Smoothness in output level is like atleast 3 times more than what it was earlier. The kenwood 9104 D sure has balls. I never expected it to be this loud specially with those little subs.

I must add the power kit and amp are worth every penny.

Overall at the end of the day hes happy but but but... this is ICE ain't it. How can one be happy ?

Now again the upgrade will take place don't know when but the following is in pipeline:
1. Components Upgrade
2. Subwoofers / Subwoofer

Enjoy the Music!
