Thoda ICE ... Thoda Magic!

Yeah Ramie ka magic!

Hi bhpians,

Just added the much needed sub to my ICE. So, the times right to post about my ICE.

The story goes something like this:

My ICE had the following:

HU : Pioneer 3050UB
AMP : KAMP 4 channel 1200W
Comps : Illusion EL 6.1

Spend 20k for the above incl wiring. I hoped i could live with this for sometime, but couldnt! There was no bass. So, my search began for some decent budget sub within 5k. I had no clue which sub to go for. Then i probably made the best decision, i got in touch with Ramie. This guy is awesome, he has so much knowledge about ICE. So exchanged a few sms's and he asked me to visit his shop in meera rd. He showed few subs ranging from JBL, Pio, Lightening audio etc. All budget amps within 5k. Considering my current setup, he suggested me to go with the Hertz or the Lightening audio. I decided to go with the Hertz sub (ES 300). Sub was placed in a sealed box and installed in my car. I also got the existing RCA cables changed to Earthquake RCA cables.

When the sub started playing, i couldnt stop smiling. It sounded really nice!

After that, Ramie spent a lot of time carefully tuning the amp & HU. Earlier i could easily reach the max vol of 62, now its impossible to go beyond 35!. He expained a lot of HU settings to me, so that i could tune myself according to my taste. He kept the eq to L - 2, M-3, H-3. After listening a few times i changed it to L - 1, M - 1, H - 4. Thats the only change i did :P.

This is my first experience with ICE. I have learnt one imp thing. There nothing like the sound of a sub. It adds so much to the sound. It makes the music sound sooo good! Earlier when i was deciding my setup, i didnt even consider a sub. I thought, i dont need any boom boom sound in my ICE. But i was soo wrong!

Once again, thanks Ramie. The visit to his shop (which is about 40km from my place), was totally worth it!
Some pics of WIP and final look.

With absolutely no disrespect towards Ramie or his knowledge of ICE, if you can't go beyond half the max volume setting on your HU, the amplifier gains are probably set too high!
That said, Congrats on your ICE. Have a blast and a boom too.

Hey vikram bro you can easily take it at very higher volume's no doubt on this, the amp settings are not high but balanced and phases are equally matched from the amp as well as crossover, there is absolute no jarring or tearing even when the volume hits 50+ the only thing it gets very very loud, which sujit didn't expected at all

Congrats on ur setup once again,i am sure you might be on drives every night nowdays.

Congrats on the upgrade, Sujit. You're right, nothing can beat the addition of a sub.

Its absolutely unauthentic. I'm supposing that authentic is defined by you as branded.

Its a 75 x 4 Class AB amplifier with the regular crossover features. The heat sink is unpainted and the make and model number are factory classifications.

i said so because i could not find any info about the existence of such a car audio brand elsewhere on the www ( my googling skills /low pagerank of relevant pages may be the cause here )
and it looked too generic. just an enclosure with nondescript text, quite like some of the locally made/chinese unbranded stuff I've seen(the chinese stuff had some sort of branding at least)

Not that it's hard, but putting a brand on what isn't really branded amounts to cheating.

you know the deal, they're branded but considered generic/unbranded at the same time

Some original chinese brands like Yihao, congli etc
and then the nearly fake ones - SONYmax, Panasoanic, NOK1A

back to the install in question, is there any info available about this 'KAMP' brand?

Trust me ive tuned it myself and the amp has alot potential,to put some of the branded amps behind when it comes to "Bang"

I don't think this amp is Chinese make, but the fit and finish is decent.

Yeah. I find it repulsive. I had once seen an amplifier with Panasonic font reading "Pandemic". Probably it was a warning to avoid it like the plague.

Ramie
I guess the wording on the actual post misled me. Never had any doubt about your ability to begin with!
