Accord 6 CD changer having issues !

Hi All,

My 2006 Jan Accord suddenly has issues with the in-dash cd-changer provided by the company. An audio CD was playing and suddenly without any noise or skipping, it stopped. I restarted the audio system and it shows the message "Err" which is diagnosed as mechanical error in the Car's manual. I went to the company who referred me to some workshop where it was identified that the CD is not rotating and they cannot fix it !!!!! They say the only solution to this issue is i replace the "mechanical" of the CD Changer which is the whole CD changer unit fitted inside the head unit .

My questions are

1. Do i have any options with my current "mechanical" and make the CDs play ?

2. Can i fix another "mechanical" or for that matter, any other audio system in accord without any modifications done ?

3. The mechanical has a panasonic label on it so could another panasonic model possibly fit in ?

Thanks in advance to all !

Sadly, it doesn't sound good at all. Nor is the set under warranty any more, I guess.

The "mechanical" is the basic CD drive - the electrical motor must be kaput. Are you able to eject the other discs? If so, maybe just the CD drive motor can be replaced by a competent service person.

Take the HU to a Panasonic Service Center. The spare motor board should be available, considering the fact that drive motor assemblies are usually common between many models of the same make, sometimes even with home audio systems. The authorized service centers are normally able to import parts / sub-assemblies, so it would be a matter of time and cost.

If that doesn't work, you will have to replace it with either a standard Accord HU from Honda spares, or an after-market HU (steering wheel controls may be a problem).

I had the same problem in my 2005 accord when to the workshop and they couldnt do much about it so i got it fixed from outside.I think i paid about rs2500.You can pm if you want more details on the shop or something. The problem they said that playin fake discs tend to spoil the sensor.
