Team-BHP - Which JBL Amp to buy?

Friends,

Currently I have a JBL 75.4 and its powering a GT5-12 SW and 2*607C. Now I need one more Amp to power another component system. My question is should I buy a JBL 604 or JBL 300.1. I think both cost me almost same.

So if I take the 300.1, I have to power the Sub with this mono Amp and 4*components using 75.4

Here I will get 175 RMS for Sub but 142w RMS for 4 channels.

if I take 604, I will power the Sub and Front Components using 75.4 and the rear components will be powered by 604 in bridged mode.

Here I will get 284 RMS for Sub and 142w RMS for fronts and 160w RMS for rear.

Which will be a better buy?

It will be better to power the sub of the 300.1 and power the 607 and the other setup with the 75.4

Is the 300.1 still available.
It was replaced by the 3501.

If its at the same price, i'd advice the mono.

If 300.1 is not available, should I buy a 604?

Dude just grab the mono, the 300.1 is replaced by the GT-5 series mono and now, for your purpose please buy the 3501 mono, you should be able to run 2 pairs of 607c components off the 75.4!

and your GT-5 sub will run great with the new 3501 mono.

the 300.1 mono will be really really old stock so just forget that idea.

GTO 350.1 cost me 8K in grey. Will it perform better than GTO 1004 which is available for 9k?

But I have doubt? Is there anything extra in a Mono Amp than a Full range Amp?

mono amp are different from full range they are used to drive the sub,and for your equipment i will suggest you go for a mono amp.
drive your front and rear through 75.4 and the sub through the mono.

Yes and the simple answer is monoblock amps are more powerful and ideally suitable to drive sub woofers .You should always match sub with amp whose RMS power is almost equal.

I have Alpine MRP –M450D (M stands for monoblock D stands for a class D which is good for low frequencies (sub) and more efficient) powering a single Kicker VCVR 12”( it’s a company vented enclosures with kicker cvr sub)
The CVR is dvc sub
- 400 watts RMS power
- 2 ohm voice coils
and the Alpine amp produces an output power of
-400 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms.

But my question is 'Is there anything extra in a mono block amp other than power/wattage'? Why they are priced high?

To get the sky high power levels for a single channel, they are, most of them, Class D. And Class D is complicated to engineer and expensive to build.

Between a 2-ch amp and a mono amp that produce the same power at the same impedance, the mono would be more efficient and it is engineered keeping in mind the RMS wattage requirement and the low frequencies it would work with.

But, a mono is worth it only if you're going to use its power @ 2 ohms (1 ohm for some exotic ones) which can be done only if you're using a dual 4-ohm DVC with the voice coils wired in parallel.

Not to forget that at the end of the day, RMS is something. 320W RMS from a GTO 1004 is far superior to 250 from a GTO 3501. Both being JBL amps from the GTO series.
