Hi guys I am looking for super cheap ICE for my friend's new car .
He has a very restricted budget.
I would like to ask you guys that I have found some super cheap ICE online and would like to install it, but I am a little worried about whether it will sound cool or not ?
Here is my planned arrangement:
  1. Some Unbranded Car Stereo Player with USB (He only uses USB and SD slot of the car stereo, CD Player capability is next to useless for him !) See link Price: ~Rs.2000
  2. JBL GTO637 Speakers 180w Price:Rs. ~3000 or Sony Speakers - XS-GTF1625B Price: Rs.~ 1500 (Strictly 6.5 inchers so that they can fit to provided spaces at the back )
  3. Installation and Misc Price:Rs. ~1000

Total Price : Approx . Rs 6000
Front Speakers are Already Installed on the cars.
Please Give me your Insight on this and suggestions for improvement (esp . the speakers)!
Thanks in Advance !
Rahul

you already have the details [:D]

but don't buy Sony speakers

in that range JVC sounds the best

I do have the details :thumbs up but is there anybody who has tried these unbranded USB / SD card players ? If yes how much difference is there in the sound quality on comparison to say...Pioneer, Sony etc. ?

and also hooking them up to a good pair of speakers (like JBL , JVC [if its available , will to check that ]) makes sense ?

and if after sometime one wants to change HU can he do that without changing the wiring ?

if you want clean sound (not loud) then usb / even mp3s are not the best option!!! get a headunit!! usb / ipods etc are for best for small speakers (that fit into your ear)

if budget is more important than quality, then you already have the answers

JBL speakers are popular cause they are loud. they are not clean / clear / crisp

I would strongly recommend your friend to fit things one-by-one thus ensuring he has a good setup (add something every month)

i once did a setup for a friend of mine - she was already spoiled after listening to some good installs - she wanted something similar - we struggled to fit it into her 20k budget!!! but she's never stopped thanking us :-)

are you an installer/retailer/distributor/reseller??

if your friend isn't really the audiophile types, the setup you mentioned would work fine for you - in fact it would come to around 4k INR :) installation would be around 150 rs or so! you can use the wires that come in the speaker boxes !

And yes, avoid the sony's and go for the JBLs(or pioneer if you are on a tight budget) if you can .

Can't comment on their quality but these generic Chinese brands are available in the local market for less than 1K (and you will be able to check it before you buy).

IMHO - don't but it online.

ask him to buy a Samsung guru 1410 and play it instead. should finish up under 2k :D

We had a colleague who actually did that.

We were in the rear seat and asked him to increase the volume without realising his ICE. He simply passed over his phone to the rear. clap:

why try the classified section.

Earthquake 6x9 are available for 1600. and those are a good pair of speakers.
tray will be 500rs extra.

UM

This is a decent setup.

For most users, Head Unit + JBL 6x9 + JBL Front Speakers are more then enough.

I have similar setup (Pioneer 5050 instead of this HU). I rarely use CD Player . Mostly run MP3 or FM.

Totally. and I'll be killed for this, but Pagaria with 30W preouts(?) is quite decent at 1100 bucks in gurgaon (pre bargaining). Going by the rep of their DVD players, this would be a steal!!
