JBL GTO638 Series doubts- Are they Original or Fake?

Hello guys!

I visited a car audio speciality shop in Ludhiana (shop name undisclosed for some reasons). This is the main dealer of JBL in Punjab. I asked sales person for original JBL component speakers for my Accent CRDi. The person showed me GTO638 series speakers and told me that these are the component speakers best suited for my car (pictures are attached). I got convinced after he quoted me for 4500/- (with complete installation).

But just after getting the installation done, i reached home and got online to get the product registered on JBL India website, which is owned by Sahil International. Showed that the product i am looking for is not component, they are just 3way speakers. That website also didnt even accepted my warrenty card number. I got terribly shocked!!

Now I am unable to decide what should i do next to teach this guy a lesson. I have also got his retail invoice and the warrenty card.

Guys just help me out, have i been cheated??

Looking for your best advice!

There surely are not components. But yes atleast are 3 ways and not only mid basses.

However the warranty should be accepted considering the stuff is currently in the product range of JBL.

Will have to wait for Sam for confirmation. YetiLord , where art thou ?

Here I am: vid guided me here.

First: Your speakers appear to be genuine JBL GTO638.

Second: I suspect that you may have bought some grey market speakers, so you may be missing the hologram. Did you get a tax paid bill?
Still, even if they are grey, no harm done as they look genuine to me.

Third: These are not component speakers, they are simple 3 way coaxial speakers.
You may have been misinformed as these are not component speakers.

You have however paid the FULL price MRP is 4490/- including VAT. You should have got a bill and an official stamped JBL/Sahil International warranty card.
If the stock is older than a year, it may not have a hologram so I would not kill myself over it.

Fourth: Nice shoes mate.

Thanks!

Dear Sam and other friends!

Thanks for the guiding me to a authentic verdict.

However still there is issue about the speakers and the components, for which that shopkeeper fooled me off! Am not satified with the quality of sound!

Can you please suggest me with which components I should go for. My car has been ICE'd with following equipments (pictures attached)!

HU: PIONEER DEH-P5850MP
Front Speakers: JBL GTO638 (180W)
Rear Speakers: Pioneer A6972E (400W)
Amp: Alpine 4 Channel MRV-F705
Subwoofer: Pioneer

Looking for your reply!

And those shoes are ADIDAS! thanks for comments!

Guys, please suggest a corrective course of action. Maybe @sizoo will be able to instill the fear of God in the dealer and make him do the right thing.

@sizoo, the dealer did what his business ethics make him do. You should specifically ask for models so that you are not exposing yourself to exploitation by his business ethics.

My suggestion: ask for GTO 608c for the front components, and tell him that the market price of that is the same as the MRP he so smartly charged you the last time around. Fake or not, persist with that amp for some time - especially after tuning the system to your liking. You can change the amp if you want but only when you are sure what you want to make better after listening to other installations.

the alpine amp is a fake, but the rest of the equipment looks legit.
maybe he didnt have stock of the jbl components, hence he sold you the coaxials under the guise of the components.
but yes, this man needs to be taught a lesson.
im sure the installation would be slipshod too!
