yup bass from the rear will usually be more than from the front. Such is life. if Sam and JB were to design a car then maybe we audiophiles stand a chance of getting a car that was designed to sound good.
however with MDF spacers, good damping material etc. we can make life tolerable in the front.

Hmmm, i'm running short of a lil dough for my amp, courtesy my mobile bill which ran high and let me dry, due to the numerous calls when I was in B'lore, for just a sunday....[all those lotlitas and jhonnys had to call me just that day, not to mention the lovely smszz]... so to avoid any further delay, i'm starting a "collection fund" to be able to buy an amp.... its called "AK's AMP Relief fund"...
Please be generous and contribute as much as you can..... lol: , and i'd be able to get my amp sooner....
Navin, since you've just become a Mod, I guess you'd be able to chip in more.... :)
Hmmm, that was silly me juz kiddin.... I'm really waiting to get an amp fitted and then anyone from Chennai can take a demo in my car for Alpine HU or JBL speaker's performance.... [anyone, who is seriously considering buying them and just wants to check them out, my car ain't a part-time discotheque....]

Just spoke to the guy. Cut two ears off. That will leave you with 2 (diagonally opposite) ears. Then drop it in, put 2 screws in to hold it there, then out the original grill on, with the original clips. Should be easy.

Guys, I used the LAME encoder as Navin suggested with Audiograbber to convert my audio CDs to mp3. I did it in 192Kbps. The songs sound great on my car system.
One more question I have.
My Sony 5100 cassette deck has just 1 Pre out - rear/sub switchable. (Not sure about the voltage).
Now, How do I go about connecting this setup.
1. Front - 6.5 Compos
2. Rear- 6.5 Coaxials
3. Sealed Box Sub in the Boot.
4. Sony 504 4 channel amp.
Fronts are on 2 channels of Amp, Rears on the HU and Sub using bridged two rear channels of the amp.
How would connections be setup as the Pre-amp output is just one in Number.
Has been surfing through Creative site to check whether an accessory is available to connect Creative Media player to my Car CD player. Came across this link.
I want to know whether this can be attached to any player with a input for CD changer..

Hi!!
I see that you have decided to out the fronts on the amplifier and the rear on the HU. I dont agree with this setup. IMO you amplify the front and rear soundstage.
You will need a Y-cable to split the RCA signal into 2. These are available quite freely. You then connect both ends to the amplifier
Given your setup there are 2 ways to connect.
1) Twin Parallel Mode: Here you connect front and rear speakers in parallel on the front channel of the amplifier.
You then bridge the sub on the rear and out the LPF on.
Sounds fine, but there is no fader control.
2) Tri-Bridge Mode: Here you connect the front speakers to the front chanel, normally and the rear to the rear channel normally.
AFTER that on the same rear channel where you have connected the rear speakers, you bridge and connect the woofer.
This allows you to use fader, but then you cant use LPF on the sub. You can either leave it like so, or use a passive crossover in line with the sub. An inductance that will act like an LPF. However it's not the same as running an active LPF on the sub.
If you want a simpler answer, it'll come from the Sheriff, Navin. heeheeheee
