The GTO1204BR is a 4 ohm sub. So you will have to use the CS300.1 in 4 ohm mode.
You can use the CS300.1 in 2 ohm mode when driving a 2 ohm sub, or when you are driving multiple subs, and the wiring style (series/parallel etc)
requires that you run the CS300.1 in 2 ohm mode.
If you use your 300.1 in 2 ohm mode it might not drive the 4 ohm sub as well. why?...well...i suspect there is a current limiter in the amp for 2 ohm mode so that the amp does not blow up.
now you dont need this current limitation in 4 ohm mode so why use it?
Thanks for the clarifications guys. Never intended to use the amp in 2ohm mode. Just wanted to know what the difference was.

You cannot bridge a Mono amplifier.

The CS300.1 is a mono amplifier with 2 basic modes. On and Off.
What is a 2 ohm mode?
You use a 4 ohm sub with it and it's in 4 ohms mode. 2X4 ohm subs in parallel, or a 2 ohms sub and it's in 2 ohms mode. *shrug*
There is no switch that "converts" the amp to any mode.
And vikram, the question of whether the amplifier runs in 2 ohms or in 4, is not something you can choose with your sub box. Your sub box is 4 ohms. Unless you connect 2 of them to your amp, it's going to be 4 ohms. So where is the question of better or worse?
Is the CS300.1 a 2ohm amp or 4 ohms. Cause I'm a little confused after checking out its details on the JBL website. Link below. Please clarify..

No worries mate. How is the GTO1204BR, this is one box i have not had the pleasure of hearing in someone's car. Is it good? Is the CS300.1 driving it well?
The sub is super. Much better than the Pioneer 306 DVC. The pioneer one is also very good but my problem was that I was not happy with the enclosure. The CS300.1 is driving it superbly. The effect overall is killer but I like it best with hard rock. Next time you're down in bangalore you can have a listen in my car.
The only reason I'm having so many doubts regarding the sub and amp are because of late I've heard a lot of stories about mis-matched combinations blowing up.
No need to worry about mismatch. You have a subwoofer amplifier, of sufficient power, driving a single 4 ohms subwoofer in a box. That's a simple combination.

Given the question asked I assumed there was a switch. If you know me you must know that I am so old that we did have amps with such switches, why in my early DIY days we used valves and had seperate taps to match the ouput impedances as well.

if your cassette HU has pre out and the CD/MP3 HU has pre in maybe you can connect the pre out of the cassette to the pre in of the CD/MP3 HU.
A shoddy installer once told me that he will put a switch wherein i can operate any one of the HUs but with only 1 pair of speakers at a time, the front or the rear.

There has been many individual discussions here about what are the right amps to use in ICE. Or, may be a list of amps that an uninitiated can go for safely.
Can we compile (if not already) a list of amps that one should avoid like plague? Would BOSS, MA Audio fall into that? I hear that newer amps from Kicker arent so great. How about Audiobahn?
What do you guys think? Is a no-go-list a decent idea?
