right now I have put the fader to F4 which gives decent front stage but if its a song which I want to listen loud I need to set the fader to rear as the front cant handle it, so was wondering if powering the fronts with amp would be of any help? Also its mostly me who wants loud music the rear passengers(whenever there are any) hate it when I pump it up
So u should power ur front spk from amp.Not only u will have more loudness up front but also it will bring more clarity as well.

the front speakers are jarring not because of too much power but becuase of too much LF. so you can either add a bass blocker (simple 6db/oct HPF) or an amp with a HPF. You'll find your front speakers can play louder that way but the bass will have to come from the rear as you will filtering them out of the front speakers.

B-I-NGO, B-I-NGO, B-I-NGO and bingo was his name. That's why I suggest, if you are using an amplifier on most 4" coaxial speakers, keep the hpf on to cut at 100Hz.

Sam, it goes and "Bingo was his name-o" trust me I koow nursery rhymes. Can you imagine listening to nursery rhymes via EL34s and ScanSpeaks.

Thanks Navin :-)

Stupid Q are these bass blockers commonly available at installers? Also any tentative prices if known would help me.

Hmm I think this alone should help, I mean front two 4" sony coax would sound funny I mean how would these powered with amp & all the base coming from sub at boot sound? I mean after powering fronts the rear would not be noticeably heard?

you can build a bass blocker using 2 470uf electrolytic caps connected in series (back to back). if you want to build a nicer bass blocker connect a 1uf ployester cap in parallel to the above back to back combination.

Thanks for the effort, Sam. A picture is really worth a thousand words. It made things completely clear for me too.

One of my frnd owns a M800 and wants to go for a JBL sub or Bass tube. Now the confusion which one will be the best bet from below:

JBL 10 Inch Car Subwoofer - GT4-10
JBL 10 Inch Ported Subwoofer Tube for the Car - CS1004T
JBL 12 Inch Car Subwoofer - GT4-12
JBL 12 Inch Ported Subwoofer Tube For the Car - CS1204T

I think the bass tube is just an enclosure with the 10 and 12 inch sub in it. Please tell me if i am wrong ?

Also is Pio sub good or JBL sub ? Budget 5K - 6K for sub for tube 7K. And are these JBL subs DVC ?

Thanks.
