Yes, planning to upgrade the sub. Currently looking for a good 10 or 12 inch DVC 4+4 ohm sub to go in a sealed box that can handle 350 watts RMS in the price range of 10 - 12k.

AVX44 is a VFM HU. No doubt. Thats the reason I switched from the P80/9887 to this unit. TA on the HU has to be done based on speaker distance and it does not give desired results. It is a lot of trial and error AFAIK.

GZ 12XD-AL, I am using that and very happy with it.Only slightly above your budget, but worth it.
Pio DVC subs if you are willing to try them.

Sorry, greenie-kutta!!! Not intended, not entirely unintended either. You see, outside of Kerala (that includes usage by Malayalees in the presence of non-) 'kutti' is devoid of gender-differentiation. 'Kutta' will be definitely misunderstood in most parts of India, making it entirely unsuitable for text expressions (even though colloquially 'kuttay', as in 'kuttay, kameenay, main tera khoon pee jaoonga' - script-writers' favorite line for Dharmendra, is more prevalent).

think tool has an ID sub, as mentioned in that thread.

@ deralte, no offence taken if it was not intended . And i'm aware how folks can take kutta in the wrong context and language

For starters, I changed to a sealed box. I do see some difference. I havent had the time to test a lot, however initial impressions indicate that it is less boomy and bass seem to come little faster than on the bass tube. Best part is that I have more space in my trunk. Since this setup also is no where close to what I want from the sub, I need to upgrade it. Only problem though is neither the GZ nor the IDs are available in Hyderabad. How good are Polk, Kicker, MTX DVC subs?.

I am just back after listening for couple of hours. I played with different tracks and gain settings on the amp. The sealed box really makes hell a lot of difference. My installer sold me that a basstube is best suited for hatchbacks. Anyways, I spoke to sprocket yesterday but they dont have GZ or ID. They have polk. Between the GZ and ID, which is better for SQ?. I am not interested in SPL.

I would have thought the right term would be 'ku-dain' meaning son. 'Ku-tti' seems to be reserved only for the female. I learnt this the hard way. I was visting (when I was a pre-teen) a friend in Ernakulam (Cochin) and his mom kept calling her son 'Ku-dain'. So being adventurous one morning I asked my friend's mom where 'ku-de-an' was (I was new to India and my pronounciation was poor). She looked at me incredulously and started laughing. I asked her what happened. She said "you just refered to my son as 'drunkard' ". My friend's mom used to call her daughter 'Ku-tti' in fact we all refer to my friend's sister as 'Ku-tti' even today.

GZ and ID have a wide range for varied needs. Be sure to compare two similar subs.

Guys,

I have the following subs in mind:
JBL P1224, IDQ V2 12D4, ID V3 12D4, Ground Zero Radio Active 12 XD-AL. They are about the same price range and can go with my JBL 3501 monoblock.

Which would give me the best SQ?. I need precise deep clean tight bass.

Thank you.

For clean tight bass, why dont you have a look at the JL Audio 12W3v3 ? I have a 12W1v2 and it produces clean and tight bass- much better than Polk / JBL IMHO. (I havent heard IDs in action but going by the reviews online, JL Audio is equal if not better than IDQ in SQ)

Any idea on the cost of it?. BTW is it a DVC or SVC sub?.
