Assuming the car will self driven - install a pair of components for the front doors. Boston Sxi 606 for VFM and Morel Maximo or JBL GTO 608C (5.5 - 6K) for a bit better sound.

You can install a pair of co-axials in the rear door if you have the space for it, else install a MDF parcel tray and install a pair of 6X9 there.

All these can be done within your budget of 12K.

Ok so I do need a HU with a cd player, So If its a Pio, guess Im looking at around 5 grand and from what I see, I can probably get Boston Sxi 606 comps for around 4 grand , which leaves me with around 3 and a half grand for the 6x9s for the mdf tray.
What would be my best bet for this ?

The MDF parcel tray would be around 1.5K. You can get a pair of Pio 6X9 for around 3k I suppose.

@Sam: I do see that you started this thread close to 6 years ago, and still going strong. You've probably answered this same question a zillion-square times, but can you pls help me understand what specification should I be looking for so that I can compare between rear speaker brands that I'm looking for my yet to arrive Fabia 1.6 elegance.

The dealer told me that I'm not to be messing with the wiring which can void the elctrical warranty. However, the wiring for the rear speakers have already been done is what they say. Which means, I'm just looking for plug and play speakers for the rear. And that's it ! At least, until the warranty period is over.

From what I understand from the ICE thread, it looks like anything 4"-5" is what suits the fabia's rear speakers as they are door mounted. Can you please suggest a few models which I can go look and compare? 'd appreciate any advice you can offer.

The dealer is saying that to make you buy from him. Most dealers have installers whose skill is likely to be that of a road-side mechanic's. Look elsewhere.

If the rear doors are wired, quite likely so will be the fronts. 4" is unlikely, it is more likely to be 5.25". Check with a known installer whether they have mounted speakers in Fabia, and if so what size. What about the HU? If the speakers are already wired, it is quite likely that the harness also covers the HU side connection, which will permit sort of drop in connection (a harness adapter may be required).

Almost every specification sheet put out but almost all manufacturers are either incomplete, incorrect, or both. Specification sheets unless they detail graphs and charts of impulse response etc... will never give you enough of a picture. My best suggestion is to "use your ears AND what's between them".

Need advice from Delhi based audio gurus
I am looking for ICE upgrade of my Safari. The following has been quoted by a famous installer in Delhi. As of now I am planning to replace the rear speaker with the front stock speaker and will be driven directly from HU. THe comps and the woofer will be driven by amp. Are the prices alright. Any other place where I can better deal. The budget is 35 k.

If the prices are with B&W, then they are more or less fine. A couple of things you need to keep in mind-

1. The Bull Audio Powerkit is a 7 gauge kit (claimed). However it is closer to a true 10 gauge kit, I know because I have personally compared it to a rockford 10 gauge kit. It may be good for a 200-300w amp but GTO 1004 is a powerful amp and will need a true 4 gauge kit to get the optimal performance out of it.
2. I have heard that GTO 1004 is available in grey for about 9,500-10,000 bucks. I'm not sure where in Delhi, but you can check up with a few delhi tbhpians.

BTW, this famous installer seems like "Driven".

So it means that they are high according to u???

My estimates are based on the prices I inquired 6 months ago, and since the prices fluctuate periodically, it is desirable that you check up the prices of these items with a few karol bagh shops to know the latest grey market prices. Anyway, having dealt with Driven, their prices are reasonable, maybe if you spent your day going to 5 different places and checking up prices, you may be able to procur all these for a few hundred bucks less, but it surely won't be an exhorbitant difference.

Just make sure you audition whatever stuff you decide to buy.

Edit: I just realized that the B&W prices for infinity comps and sub is a lot more than what you have been quoted, so I think the grey market prices you have been given are reasonable.

I have done all the possible damping in my honda civic to reduce body noise reduction, I have been successful until now to reduce body noise, now my rear windscreen is vibrating a lot, anyone idea how to get rid of the same.

Is it due to the sub or does it vibrate without any music playing? One does not expect the beading to lose elasticity so early.

* If the beading has deteriorated (cracking, etc.), replace it ASAP
* Damp all the metal area surrounding the rear windscreen - C pillar, ceiling, hat-rack metal area, the area between the windscreen and the boot hinge, etc. This is likely to be time-consuming, since you have to remove the lining to access the metal areas, and the rear windscreen and beading itself

Please advice me on a simple ICE setup on my newly bought Vista - base version.
My budget is around 15K for the same. Can stretch it till 20K if required.
I am thinking of the following setup.

HU - with CD, USB, Aux and FM.
Speakers on the doors - front and rear.
Speakers (tweeters?) on the dash.
I don't want to put a tray at the back for now. And also I am skipping the Sub, for now.
Since Sub is not in the config, I guess I can skip the Amp too(?).


Since my folks will use the car, mainly soft music will on play, which will change to Coldplay or Nirvana when I am around

So, please suggest me a good kit. The car dealer in Hyderabad is offering a all Sony kit for about 14K. But I have read people advising against Sony, on the forum.

Dealer also said he could offer me Kenwood, no price disclosed though.

So please help me out here in selecting that near perfect setup - as in brands and if possible variants.

Also, I'd be thankful if someone from Hyderbad can point me to a place where I can get all this installed.

Hi guys excellent thread this!

I will be getting delivery of a polo 1.6 next month and would like to upgrade the ICE. I am a complete noob at this so please bear with me.

Following is the set up i am planning for after going through the various posts:

HU: Stock (dont wanna lose the OEM look!)
Front: Components JBL 608C Grand Touring
Rear: Coaxials, (brand undecided suggestions please!)
Amp: 4-channel JBL CS50.4 (will place it under seat, but will it fit.. pls suggest alternatives)

Ok, here is the important bit.
- I do not want to compromise boot space (blame my previous Zen) so all speakers will be door mounted and no cutting of metal in the doors (i gather 6.5'' speakers fit into the Polo doors. Will the mounting depth be a problem?)
- Amp will have to go under the seat so amp dimensions are important. Please suggest any other locations for amp n crossovers. Is the amp compatible with the stock HU?
- Damping & wiring change required yes/no?
- will i get enough bass with this set-up? sub in boot is a no-no.
- Budget 20K
- please suggest a good installer in Thane/Mumbai.
