ICE Suggestion i10 (50 - 60k)

Hi guys,

A friend is planning to ICE his i10. What started with a budget of 25k has shot up to almost 60k. Am looking for some advice from ICE gurus.

Here are the config details as they stand as of now.

Head Unit- Kenwood 6043U [8500]
Amp- JBL GT5-604 [6200]

Mono Amp- JBL GTO7001 [15000]
Components- Polk Audio [8500]
Rear Co-ax- Polk/Infinity [5500]
Sub- (12") BlauVelocity/Polk [8000]
Capacitor- Sansui 1.5 Farad [4500]
Damping ---- [1000]
Wiring Kit- Scosche [3000]

All items are with bill and warranty.
The first two items have been purchased already.

Now here are a few questions

1) Is the mono-amp too big for the mentioned sub in Hyundai i-10? Would a decent 2-channel amp suffice?
2) Any other brands that we should be looking for in the budget?
3) The quotes are from Chandigarh with b/w, is it a better option to source the stuff from New Delhi, without b/w if possible?

I would not use the capacitor and use the money for more damping.

It is better to look out for more options.
IMO , in 60k you can get a very good sounding setup.

Avoid the capacitor, get more damping as mentioned by LBM paaji.

Hi, the lord. Why don't you audition a few systems of team-bhpians in chandigarh itself. I'm sure it'll only help you. Gimme a shout if anything comes up.
Cheers

1. a good mono amp will do a better job of driving a sub than a simialr 2 ch. amp.
2. Why not use the smae speakers for the front components and rear?

Agreed. Instead of the money spent on caps you can damp more and spend some more money on the Big 3 wires.

I second that.

I always prefer using same set/brand of speakers for front and rears. I feel mixing with the Speakers will actually spoil your sound (if not properly selected)

IMHO, Polk is kinda overrated brand. upto to personal choice, audition before you select

Friends,

Agreed i will go for same brand in components and rear coaxials.

I will also not go for capacitor, instead i will spend it on damping.

Now, about the mono-amp, which one is the best if 14k is the maximum i can spend. Also, which sub should i go for when 8.5k is the max.

PS: please suggest me the brand with the model number.

Regards,

TG 60k is a good budget. There are mono amps from Alpine, JBL, Infinity that you could look into.
For a sub I would suggest Groundzero Radioactive model 12". It has a good low end freq. response. Should do good in 1-1.2 cu.ft enclosure. The other sub you could look into is ID CTX. I suggest you also get some good front components.
What's the plan for the rest of the system?
What sought of music you listen ?

Well i can bet these prices are from Puri autos chd , isn't it ??

Well audition all the components and subs before buying .
Capacitor is of no use . Buy dampening and better wiring .

I have recently got few things installed in my I10 and am following a step by step process in the upgrades, so that i can differentiate between the audio quality thus obtained. I have got:

1) Head Unit- Kenwood 6043U
2) Amp- JBL GT5-604
3) Front components - Infinity, Installed.

what is left? is a mono-amp, sub, Rear Coaxials/components(depending upon which sounds better after auditioning) and last but not the least damping.

I listen hip-hop, rock(sometimes), punjabi and hindi(generally A.R. Rehman) songs. Good bass with high audio clarity is my requirement.

Polk, GZ and JBL all sell subs under 7K. Use the rest for a good box with damping.

As far as amp go there are so many now. JBL, Pioneer, Kenwood, all sell mono amps under 15K.

if you are getting a sub in the trunk you can make do wth 6" coaxials instead of 6x9.

If one wants one can get a good Kenny's Mono Sub 6104/8104/9104 under 9K delivered to India from ebay's globaleasybuy or 20north... much more cost effective option

50-60k is a good budget and some good stuff can be got with this budget especially if imported from the US of A. This will be an interesting thread to keep an eye on.
