Verna SX - NO USB, No DVD What to Do?

Hi All

As you all Verna Owners know, the built in Hyundai(?) Music System will take audio CD/ MP3 CD only. There is no USB port available. Also it wont take any DVDs too.

I would like to upgrade the system, without causing any change in the Display unit/ HU. I mean I want to make it enabled for DVDs and USB. Can I do it with some external fittings?

I tried adding an FM Modulator- USB/SD Card Adaptor. It works with USB well, but If I turn the Engine ON, There comes a noise similar to the Radio tuning grains.. also if I restart the system, it cannot remember which song I was playing and will start from the first on the list again :(

So apart from FM Modulator? I know I can do a google on it, but I would like to here it from Team-BHP, as It IS my Google now

Thnx in advance
cheers

aneesh , i would suggest that you wait a while collect enough money and upgrade to an hu which has all these feature . Do consider the JVC KD AVX Series they are feature loaded and good VFM. and has all th features that you have wished for.

if you try to add on any stuff , the quality will get degraded further and the MTTF ( mean time to fail ) will drastically decrease as now system components will be mated with resistances / impedances that they were not originally designed to handle or mate with.

hi aneesh,

Have you done something about your system?? I am in a similar dilema as you are.
The SQ of the hu in Verna is one of the worst and to top it there is no USB port. I am planning to fix my single din pioneeer which I ripped from my old esteem. The SQ was much better with them in my esteem. The only issue would be the looks, with a gaping hole in the dash.

Hi Manish Thomas,

I would like to submit that you must maintain the integrety / looks of the dashboard. I too have a verna (Oct 2008 model) just before the HMIL reworked on the internal looks of the car. I want to get the audio system which HMIL has started offering as integreal part of the car.

I know you are conserned about the freedom that you enjoy in the aftermarket devices, but one still misses the looks !!!

Cheers

yes, it kills the overall looks and dash integration. But if people love SQ more than looks, who cares?

@Manish Thomas, I didnt change anything yet. A 2 Din system with touch screen is on the way from Dubai.. waiting for it

OT: The term you are looking for is MTBF (Mean Time Before Failure).

Aneesh

Once you get the audio devise from Dubai, please post some of the pics so that one can figure out the looks & feel and also if possible the specs of the system and its availability in India?

Hi Aneesh,
Please let us know (pics included) once you get your new 2DIN from dubai. Btw which one are you getting? I am travelling to Dubai myself this month end.

Does the stock HU have a pre out? Anybody who has removed their stock HU please let me know. In case they have a pre out, will an amp help? In that case, I can maintain the looks with better SQ.
