Thanks DA for such an enlightening post. So according to you, it really doesn't matter whether its a tube or a SUB (box'ed) the tuning has to be appropriate. Right? Which one do you recommend if budget is a constraint?

bass tubes i hard were to boooomy for my taste.i wanted crisp and hard hitting. so took a sealed box. you should check sealed and ported box setup before desiding and see if you can get a box which will sit flush on to the sides so that it stays there.

I am going for a infinite baffle setup but little different. similar to how stock subwoofers are fitted in high end cars. more on that later.

I personally like a sub in a sealed box. It makes the bass sound more natural.

I think sealed box would be the best if you dont want BOOM BOOM kinda of a system. Bass tube are very boomy and can kill the music. But with Sealed, you get more of Punch rather than Boom.
By the way, from where are you getting the stuff installed?

I have now decided to listen both the setups and then will make the decision. Definitely i dont want too loud\boomy music but would consider trying the tube also.
I have yet not started installing, would be doing it next week, most probably from DRIVEN, east of kailash, Delhi or GYRO, moti bagh. Do you recommend any good shops in Delhi?

Just check this out, please see below the prices quoted by one of the dealers in Karol bagh:

JBL A604 - 4channel Amp : Rs. 5100
JBL 608c Compos : Rs 4200
JBL CS1215 SUB (1100W) : Rs 2200
Wiring Kit: Rs 550 (am sure its some local or fake stuff)

The dealers says that he will give all the products with bill and original JBL warranty.
But seeing the prices i am a little skeptical about the originality of products. What do you think guys?

boss, buy this stuff from Ashoka, Karol Bagh and get it installed. Dont pay more than 500-700 for this..but yes, browse around and get enough knowledge first as to vital points before installation like seperate running of power cables and RCAs etc.

ICE PHASE 1 COMPLETED:

Hi Guys,

The phase 1 of the ICE upgrade for my Baleno has been completed. Below are the details of the stuff installed:

1. FRONT - Infinity 6020cs Component Speakers.
2. REAR - JBL GT5 S-396 6" X 9" Oval Speakers.

This setup is sounding good and the rear ones are producing good meaty bass .

Next phase of ICE upgrade would include HU-upgrade with the AMP and a SUB.

I would like to sinceerly thank all the ICE gurus here for their extended help. Please do post your comments about the setup.

congrats man. sensible way to go for getting ICE when budget needs to be controlled (very unlike t-bhpians). enjoy the sweet music

pls also share the price for each component and where did you get the installation done from?
