Thanks Sandesh for amending the tool with those additional buttons. Hope you don't mind me sharing this utility with my other friends.

Thats a wonderful utility Sandesh. Thanks for sharing.

Till now, I have been using multiple thumb-drives and arranging them as per "Genre" and putting film names in that classification; but it still works alphabetically. This has worked till now; but surely I would try this utility.

I will be glad if more people use it. That's the sole purpose of it being free. If anyone wants to contribute I can share the source code as well.

Thanks,
Sandesh

Yesterday only while coming back from Agra alone I was thinking that there should be some way to number your folders ( except doing it manually) & there you go . It is just one day & i got it. I should have wished for something else.

Gr8 Job BTW Thanks

Updated to version 1.2: Traverse through all your music folders

Guys,
I have updated the utility to version 1.2. Now you can navigate through folders using Zoom In (or double click) and Zoom Out buttons on the newly added toolbar. The flow I am assuming would go like
1. Open root folder of your music files e.g. /Users/myname/Music using Select Folder option from File menu
2. It will list all the files/folders available in root folder. Select a folder and click on Zoom In icon(or double click on folder name) to navigate to that folder.
3. Arrange files as per your preference and click on Save Numbering button
4. Click on Zoom Out to go back to root folder.

You can traverse to any no of nodes in folder tree.

Hope you guys find this useful.

I am planning to add ID3 tag support soon. It will update the Album/Track Name info in MP3 files as per folder name(Album Name) and file name(Track Name).

PS: I have also uploaded the source code to following site. If any of you want to modify the code, feel free to checkout: My Music My Way — Project Kenai

Re: Utility for numbering files/folders on USB drive for Car Music Players

Apologies for bumping up the thread, does it work for anyone on windows10? Have used this earlier in XP and it worked like a charm.

Regards
Shailesh
