So thinking of a tankful of diesel and driving off to Goa with the iPod. Question - How do I integrate it with the C220?

According to this linky, Mercedes now offers an iPod integration kit for the C, E and S Class from July 2005 onward. Is it only for build dates after, or can this kit be had for older C220s also?

Anyone has any info on this?

Ya GTO.. lots of high end cars do offer i-pod adapters in cars.. like certain BMW's do have an adapter in which u simply have to to plug it in.. but it is difficult to install in older cars.. dont know bout Mercs though..

I think we Indians shud just keep dreaming about such stuff ever coming to India... The head units will be coming with a docking jack where in one can plug in the IPOD ... As of now nothin available from the DCIL.. Checked with them... And again it is going to be an expensive affair to change the head unit..
Why dont u just use the ITRIP and play the music thru a pre-determined FM signal...

I dont think it will be that difficult, as Merc sources tell me even older systems are compatible with their iPod kit.

hey dude,this is a really cool gadget available across all apple stores in india.What it does is plugs into the dock connector of your ipod and streams the sound over the fm.Tune ur car's radio and voila!!!.It gives great clarity and never loses a signal.This is because it will be streaming from inside the car!!
Check it out, it costs approx 2000 rupees(worth it!!)

BTW did you checked the links that I have given?

@binz: if private FM transmission allowed in our country? cause according to my information it isn't

I dont want to go for a device that transmits through the FM signal because:

1. It is not integrated with the standard audio controls. Its way too inconvenient to choose tracks through the iPod while driving vis a vis the steering controls.
2. Sound quality.

It is not being transmitted to the whole of the country so it is definately permissible.It transmits the signal to a particular radius around you.

Darn Ipod seem's to have taken over everyone's life!!

i got it!!....(it is similiar to what gto posted though)..
i searched the merc site and found exactly what you are looking for ..it integrates through the steering remote and lets you browse artists,playlists,albums
through the speedo(sounds wierd???)check it out on:

GTO-it is not a product code but a video of how the ipod integrates with the benz there is also a list of mercs it works on but i did noy check that part of the intro
