First complaint on IPAD

First glitch on the IPAD is related to WI-FI connectivity.

Brilliant idea ! There cannot possibly be a better HU for 25k. ICE installers should start making dash kits for the iPad, it might be the future of HUs

Ofcourse, until some of the iPad competitors come out

Simple pleasures like USB, ability to install car-computer software (ie optimized interface) etc will then set them apart from the iPad IMO.

Also, keep in mind, when comparing the iPad to a HU, it lack an internal amp -- ie, you will need to have an external amplifier to power each speaker you have.
(Not a bad thing, but adds to that 25k cost).

Another concern when watching the video was that the glossy screen does reflect a lot.

And lastly, the lack of tactile controls are also a small negative when you're trying to change the tune or the volume when driving.

However, no doubt that this is a whole new dawn for in-car entertainment!

ADAM Tablet is also expected sometime this year, it claims to be 36% lesser in price than compared to IPAD.

Thats a neat Install. What needs to be seen is how much heat resistant the iPad is because the temperatures can get really high in a car dashboard

all of you are right...it looks swamky and cool but it does have its own share of trouble.
yes, the glossy screen will make life miserable.
no USB will make for inconvenience.
heat is definitely an issue.

all things said and done, this install will definitely be replicated by many others and the traditional DIY car PC may end up giving way to this type of install.
what say?

I was also about to touch the point, but see that 14000 rpm also covered it.

This will pave the way for much faster and easier car PC DIYs, with a lot less hassle. This will be especially true for those who cannot afford to or have the time for a regular car PC setup, where they have to procure all the parts /compos.

But this will makes things easier

But the only thing is rather than jumping in just yet, wait for the next release of the I Pad which would have worked around the glitches, offer more feature at probably the same or reduced price or for the compeition to come out with offerings

Re: 1st in-car iPad installation..

The above video looks to be a permanent setup of iPad2 in the car .

Now with many cars parked outside houses and in parking lots , this is not a safe bet for India. So what i found in one of the You tube videos where the ipad2 can be removed . Have a look

the idea looks cool, but how are we going to take care of the connections to speakers, subs, tweetors, amps.
