Harman Kardon Drive Play Display

Hi,

My harman kardon drive play display text stopped working. The backlight stays on and I can change songs from the control knob and everything else works perfectly but the display text on the display screen does not show up. I tried resetting but of no avail. Any suggestions/comments?

Thanks Yes that is the price I had bought it for originally. Just wondering if the product does have issues whether I should buy it again or go in for the Alpine EX10. Could not find anything online regarding the display text going off.

Well, my display got damaged but that was due to negligence. However, it may be the controller unit at fault.

Hi,
Could be the controller. Will have to wait for someone to come down from US to carry it as Amazon wont ship it to India. It is a good unit for playing IPod and is better than most others such as Alpine EX10.
JBL India who also have Harman Kardon in India said that they will have to look at the whole system unit to see where the problem is. If nothing works will have to buy the whole thing again. What did you do eventually?

Hi Guys,
I own a Tata Zest XT 2015 petrol model. Got this issue a few days back, my Harman Kardon system stopped functioning and the entire panel buttons have gone dead including the Car reverse warning indicator and even the A.C knobs doesn't work. The A.C. blows at a higher pace.
Took it to the service center in Kandivali Mumbai, where they said that the music system has got issue and stopped functioning.
Options
1. Send it to Haryana, where they manufacture these units for trouble shooting/fixing - 2500 courier charges for sending this one side and whatever charges then it might take (quoted a figure of probably 20K for getting this fixed) and then getting it returned.
2. Unofficially, they can get it fixed with a local repair guy who has done it for them earlier (charges around 10-12K) from the past 2 times they had got the cases done from him (he doesn't reveal the issue yet charges them this amount) however they haven't got complaints back from the other guys.
The warranty it seems even if we buy a new system which costs (and was quoted ) 42K would only be 6 months or 10k km whichever came first.

I suspected the fuse would be the issue (shamefully didn't check myself before handing over as needed to anyways take it for servicing) however this comes as a shocker, evaluating what to do.

just to add this model was equipped with the navigation system which unfortunately never worked, initially they said it was my iPhone which was incompatible, however later on even with Android it didn't work, I digress but to cut it short the panel was a color touch screen one.

Have agreed for the 2nd option, as a temporary measure till the time they are letting me use a dotmatrix infotainment system which fits and works which they tested to check if it was an issue with the power supply. Would need to deposit 12K (unofficially) till the time my unit gets looked at and fixed.

Any advice would be appreciated if anyone has undergone such a problem before. (A bit urgent)

Thanks
AceNam.

Happened on my 2014 Zest as well after it went through an open pothole. Service center guys said that the entire unit will be replaced as it cannot be repaired which in my opinion is just bullshit. Luckily for me, it started working automatically after a week. Not sure what was wrong but it could've been a minor issue like a loose connector. Unfortunately, I'm a novice and don't know much about cars so didn't look at it myself.

Try some local mechanic shop who deals with electronics and they should be able to fix it for you. Worth taking a chance.

I and my Wife are waiting for the flights to resume and make a Vacation trip to USA. If I could be of any assistance, let me know. We return empty handed and can do the favor, if required.

Re: Harman Kardon Drive Play Display

Hi All,

My problem with the Harman car audio system not working was resolved, had to take it to an car accessory shop in my vicinity, of course with some reference provided by autorounder's owner (a link which another team bhp-ian Mr Hemang Jesrani provided to me ).
It was found to be an issue with the power supply board which got short and had to be replaced (of course just trust factor here as can' verify everything) and was charged 1800 bucks which was much better than the other options that had been mentioned.

Mr. Amrik Singh, think you have answered to an older post of Z Klasse the only closest reference that i found with my issue, however thanks for the offer, indeed kind of you.

Thanks All.

Exactly a case similar to mine. Its a shame that such small issues cannot be dealt with at the service center and these guys shamelessly ask for exorbitant amount.

Overall happy for you that it got fixed.

PS: Anyone got a reference in Delhi where I can go and get my car's system checked?
