XYLO - guidance required for ICE setup

Hello all,

Finally on 22Jun10, I got delivery of my Mahindra Xylo E6 BS4 (Diamond White color). Earlier I was using Tata Indigo LX TDI.

Apart from other topics of interest, I have been reading a lot regarding ICE setup, but still not sure what could go well in my case.

1. Your Car: ___Mahindra Xylo E6____

2. Your current setup (If any): ____none_____

3. Your Budget: ___INR 20K to 30K___

4. Do you drive most of the time or is it chauffer driven? ____self driven____

5. Your Music preferences (Genres, favorite artists, etc.): ___mostly hindi songs; at times music with beats to 'charge-up' mood, FM channels_____

Additional Information:

6. Are you ready to sacrifice your boot space/modify door panels? : ___yes, to a certain; but dont want to make it cramped. _____

In the last two days, I have visited two (popular) car accessories shop and got an 'estimate' done. Attached is the sheet consisting of all the details.

I would request guidance from you all for the ICE selection. Please suggest something decent to hear (& bit for show-off as well !) and value-for-money package.

OT: FYI: Y'day, got the complimentary stuff fitted from the car dealer: floor mat, mud flaps, steel plates on inside-bottom area of doors with engraved 'Xylo' (dont remember whats its called);
Also from Dealer-1 (refer attached xls), got Sun control film done: 2 sides/6 glass & rear glass: Garware 35% heat reduction (Rs.1200/-) and Front glass: Garware CoolVision 37% heat reduction (Rs.1800/-).

Today, I will get done a) Wurth under-body Anti-Rust treatment (Rs.2000/-) with 5 yrs warranty and b) Wurth Engine Coating (Rs.500/-) from another shop.
At the moment I have declined to do 'Teflon Coating for Body' (Rs.2500/-).

Expecting your valuable feedback at the earliest.

thanks & regards,

Pranav

1. JVC HU is preferable to Sony
2. Dealer 2 seems to be upfront on costs - I would trust him more
3. Why components at the back? Coaxes will do just as well, especially if you are able to put 6x9 coaxes on the rear door (you can avoid sub, unless you really want a sub too)

5. Your Music preferences (Genres, favorite artists, etc.):Trance, hip hop and a lot of house. DISCO. PIT BULL IS GOD
Additional Information:

6. Are you ready to sacrifice your boot space/modify door panels? : I did not sacrifice any space. My sub can be removed when I use the third row.

I think my system sounds pretty decent. You can try this before you go for a more expensive set up.

My answers in bold. Here is the link to my simple setup.

Thanks a lot for your responses. Now the E6 doesnt come with any ICE, just the round grooves for speaker are given on doors.

Im not a pro in this subject, and want to invest wisely, hence have such queries:

- I'll freeze for JVC HU KD-DV7405/6.
- Front Comp, which is better: IA EL6.1 or GT5-256C ? (cost is almost same)
- Pl suggest some decent coax (JBL ?) for rear door.
- Amp : GZ4110HPX or JBLS644 ? for me the specs look similar (consider the cost difference is almost double!).

Curiosity- Since above JBL-Subs are not too costly, maybe if I attach them with Amp-JBL, does it perform ?

thanks in advance,
Pranav

Don't compare like that. Audition both and choose whichever sounds better for you.

There are quite a few - JBL 938/947, Hertz, GZ, Polk, even couple of Pio. Again, audition if you can before deciding.

Though the specs look similar, they are different animals with different pricing policies! The JBL is a nice amp too. You can also look at Kenwood 8404, Blau GT4 Special Mk2, even Pio 4 channel. Decide based on what fits your deal overall.

Will perform well with any amp. Go ahead if it fits your budget. In that case, you will have to wire the rear speakers to HU, and use the rear 2 channel of the amp bridged and connected to the sub.
