Speaker Mounting DIY

Helping a friend replace front door speakers in Camry.

Pulled the panel off and new speaker bolt circle is different and little bit smaller.

Should I fabricate a bracket for it or just drill holes in the sheetmetal?

Hey mate, you can either replace the stock speaker with the aftermarket speakers the same size. Alternatively you could go for a bigger size eg, form 4 inch to 5 inch but that will require some MDF speaker spacers to mount but the issue is the door moulds may not fit perfectly, but it is all trial and error, please examine your plastic door moulds to see if there is provision to fit larger speakers and maybe you can audition some speakers if you are a "do it yourselfer" Try to fit the largest speaker possible to the front doors since it will give you a better sound in depth. Ask some car audio installers if they have worked on a particular car and a possiblility to fit bigger speakers. If you decide to go the "stealth" approach, then stick to the original size aftermarket speakers that you could use an external amplifier to power. Good luck mate!
