TOC error on burned CD - Stock Kenwood HU

Now that i got a decent setup, i thought why now burn some songs onto a RW CD and keep updating the songs as they come by. It worked once on a sony RW CD but when i added few more tracks, i got a TOC error - so back to radio.

Looked around TBHP but couldnt find any related thread on TOC error resolution so here i am looking for any solution on this damn TOC error.

Few details
Car stereo = Stock Kenwood :(
RW CD's i have used = Sony / Moser baer (both are brand new)

Sony - Didnt play for the first time. I stopped at a local store, started the engine and voila it worked. Thats when greed struck to add more songs & within few hours, i added more songs and it never worked till now.

Moser baer - Same tracks (1st time added on sony cd + 2nd time added on sony cd) didnt play at all.

Google search revealed it to be a problem with files that should be fixed by sfc / scannow (its working as i type this).

I am thinking the new tracks might be an issue. Will keep you guys posted, meanwhile if you can share anything on it, please share.

Re: TOC error on burned CD

Hi Quadra, Sony players and disks throw up compatibility issues when reading multi-session disks, atleast it happened to me quite a number of times. So it is better to avoid multi-session writes. Hope you have USB in your HU.

Re: TOC error on burned CD

Thanks chikku. My HU does not have a USB so u know why i am wasting my time on burning CD's.

So i have erased both discs.
Now i am burning the tracks (that played for the 1st time) on both of them...will let you know how it goes.

Re: TOC error on burned CD

I get TOC error sometimes while playing Audio CD's on the Kenwood 6539.
I power it off, take out the CD,and insert it,and then power on.
It works for me.
Btw for me,this is not specific to the Type of disc being used.

Re: TOC error on burned CD

Let me put this in more generic way:
Any idea why rewritable CDs cannot be played on majority of players?
Even I faced this problem! (Even though after burning at only 10X speed)

Re: TOC error on burned CD

Does this problem occur if you write the tracks at once (instead of writing it over multiple sessions)?

Re: TOC error on burned CD - Stock Kenwood HU

I don't remember specifically.
But no it was not burnt in multi-session.

It was just a CD RW burnt at once. I really don't remember the DAO or TAO mode.

Contradictory! Are you sure? CD-RW and CD-R-multisession have slight differences.

Correct.

So i tried burning the same tracks (that worked 1st time) to sony & moser RW CD & nothing worked. Tried akshay's trick - no luck.

I think the player is dirty. How can i clean it without removing? Will buy a cleaning CD to see if that helps.

Back to 91.9.

Take it to any service center, head cleaning is a routine job for them.

Unfortunately cd cleaners deigned for tray type loaders wont work on car's unit.

I will try with a normal CD (write once) and see if things improve.

Re: TOC error on burned CD - Stock Kenwood HU

The issue stands resolved now. I used a normal CD-R (Moser), burned the files onto it (Nero Express), old as well as new and voila, it worked.

Cost = 10rs (for a new CD-R)
