The first batch of 60 students have graduated from the Ahmedabad centre and all have been absorbed by VECV.

·
Does anybody know these centers already offer the following courses?
. Post Graduate Diploma in automobile engineering.
· Masters in automobile engineering.

Does TM and AL have similar initiatives? I know TM has a training center, but not sure whether they provide any post graduation degrees/diplomas.

Good initiative, but I am not fan of very company specific initiatives. Apart from a degree course based on ITI syllabus, the other courses tend to be tailor mode for the companies. Since the sponsors provide the lab equipment(engines etc.,) the real experience happens on limited technologies. So rather than engineering, its more like a diploma in Volvo engines.

Volvo ( Construction Equipment) has currently a tie up with Visveswaraya Technological University -Bangalore to offer PG courses in Road technology.
The engineering courses would be offered by Resource Centre for Asphalt and Soil Training Academy (RASTA), which was promoted by Volvo.

Though promoted by Volvo understand it does not promote its machinery, etc, but only the road building tech.

Guess the Volvo-Eicher open Tech Center in Mohali, would be in the same lines.

Cheers!

Re: Volvo-Eicher open Tech Center in Mohali, offering automotive training programs

Recently i came across a technical training institute started by SOMA group which offers fully free technical training courses to the poor students. A great initiative by a corporate group.

It is called as Swarna Bharat - Soma Institute of Technical Training. Very professionally managed institute with good infrastructure. Such initiatives by corporate sector should increase for a better society.

I think there are many companies collaborate with educational institutes; good move according to me

Few are:
Honeywell - Have tie up with an Engg college in Madurai
Bosch - with MSRSAS Bangalore
BITS - Ashok Leyland and many other companies

This trend seems good.

"Now it is Suzuki's turn joined hands with International Management Institute (IMI) for a part-time diploma course for its executives. The reports stated that according to a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two organisations, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) will sponsor executives every year for the part-time post-graduate diploma in management (PGDM)) programme at IMI."
