School buses on strike in TN: Protest against stricter norms

This is as insane as it can get. Schools protesting against stricter safety norms imposed by govt on school buses.

Many schools are least bothered about the safety and have buses on contract. Condition of these buses are pathetic and this does not hold true only for Tier two cities. Even in a place like Bangalore, I have seen some very shoddy vehicles running about as school buses with helpless children inside.

High time the govt takes action against the schools that do not comply to these norms!!

Re: School buses on strike in TN: Protest against stricter norms

A school girl was run over by the bus she was traveling in after she fell through a hole that the bus floor had. That incident triggered a chain reaction; starting with protests by the parents of the kids, then the crackdown by the RTO dudes and finally the protests by the vehicle owners ie. the schools themselves.

Concerned parents won't fight the schools which will mean that all of this will be forgotten in a week. Happy ending indeed .
