Last month, the Railway Ministry has set up a committee under the chairmanship D K Mittal, former secretary, financial services, to examine the existing revenue structure and suggest ways and means for raising earnings of Indian Railways.

The committee has submitted its report and Economic Times has reported that it includes the recommendation of policy framework drawn to allow corporate houses brand trains and stations such as Amul Shatabdi/Railway Station. The committee in its report has said railways can raise around Rs 8,000 crore through such a corporate branding exercise and other initiatives.

Bringing in such private partnerships to public transportation means were much discussed earlier.
