Tata Motors launches Ace Mega at Rs. 4.31 lakh

Tata Motors has announced the launch of a new variant of the Ace small commercial vehicle in India. Called the Ace Mega, the vehicle is priced at Rs. 4.31 (ex-showroom, Thane).

The Ace Mega is powered by a 798cc, 2-cylinder, diesel engine that puts out 40 BHP @ 3,750 rpm and 94 Nm of torque @ 2,000-2,500 rpm. Tata Motors claims that he pick-up truck has a top speed of 90 kph and a fuel efficiency of 18 kpl.

The Ace Mega measures 3,835 mm in length and has a wheelbase of 2,100 mm. It rides on 14-inch wheels and has a ground clearance of 175 mm. The loading bay measures 2,140 mm in length and 1,430 mm in width and the vehicle has a payload capacity of 1,030 kg.

The Ace Mega comes with leaf springs all-round, disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. Other features include a body-coloured front bumper, front wheel arch eyebrows, body graphics and wide angle ORVMs.

Initially, Tata Motors is offering the Ace Mega in seven states - Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Orissa, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. The vehicle will be introduced in other states in a phased manner.

Price is quoted ex Thane, but Maharashtra is not listed as one of the states where will be sold? Very funny.

Nice torque though to take them anywhere you want but as a motorcyclist, my first enemy even over a lorry is these kutty yanais.

And whoever has drove this will understand how bad the brakes are after few thousand kms and that wheel radius is so small to have these been driven around 90kmph.

So this is the Diesel engine that was supposed to make it to the Nano? Wonder if anyone would compare it with the Maruti Celerio's engine. May be once after the Maruti's LCV comes into the market.
