September 2015: Commercial vehicle sales

Hello All!

Come September and by the grace of our government quite many milestones have been crossed!
Non-ABS vehicles were allowed to be produced by the OEM till last month making a strong case for stocking lots of them at dealers (less costly than ABS versions)
Also, speed limiters (which also increase cost) were made mandatory.
Now from this month, only ABS fitted vehicles will be produced by the OEMs.

Total Sales

LCV Sales

M&HCV Sales

Ashok Leyland M&HCV sales have sprung up significantly making it a darling of not only the dealers, but also the bourses.
VECV is also keeping up the good work.
Tatas and Mahindras have put up an average show but that is what happens when you have a large baseline figure. Also, the continuous onslaught of products from competition takes some sheen off the numbers.

Do chip in with additional information and analysis.

PS: The quarter has ended and the financial analysis will be complete once the results are announced

Re: September 2015: Commercial vehicle sales

In September the sales were up because the following has been implemented from 1st October, increasing the costs !

(1) Introduction of BS IV norms in top cities
(2) Introduction of ABS
(3) Introduction of road speed limiter ( 80 kmph ) for all CVs

Hence orders were more to get the vehicles at lower costs and "faster" vehicles.

Lets wait and watch for next few months.

Yet an another good consolidation.
ABS has made favor for sales, but still the momentum will keep going for some more time. AL have surpassed M&M and sales trajectory is too steep.

Eicher, we wanted more Pro series on road.

Tata, we wanted Ultra to catch up on the lost market. Also, the new range of trucks are getting developed. No idea where they will be slotted.

In Kerala, what i have seen is that Bharat Benz have increased their presence in tipper and multi axle load carrier section and eaten into leyland's pie. A driver told me that they get more mileage, more power, better driver comfort and excellent service. He told that many tourist operators are waiting for the launch of Bharat benz bus chasis.

Re: September 2015: Commercial vehicle sales

BSIV is still not mandatory with National Permit. [Sorry for not linking, but will get the official statement from my office laptop tomorrow]
So, the increase in sales due to this will only be limited.
Any idea why BharatBenz is not listed?

Hi sukarsan, welcome!

BB does not share its monthly sales data. Same is the case with MAN, AMW and Scania.
