Mahindra is reportedly working on a passenger van version of the Jeeto LCV. A heavily camouflaged test mule of this Jeeto-based van has recently been spotted testing. Though the Indian automaker hasn't made any comment on the upcoming commercial vehicle's launch, the Jeeto passenger van is expected to be launched in India later this year or early next year.

The spy shots indicate that the front of the passenger van will be similar to that of the Jeeto LCV, including the small, bubble-shaped headlights. However, while the LCV gets a loading bay area behind the driver's compartment, the van will include a hard top passenger area. Other details revealed in the spy shots include tarpaulin side and rear windows and vertically oriented taillight cluster.

Powering the passenger van will likely be the same 625cc single-cylinder, water-cooled engine that is found on the Jeeto. Under the LCV, this engine is available with two power outputs - 11 BHP and 16 BHP, while torque is constant at 38 Nm. Transmission duties will likely be handled by a 4-speed manual gearbox.

Once launched, the Jeeto passenger van is expected to compete against the Tata Magic Iris.

A genuine competitor for Ace or Magic from Tata. Magic is doing good in passenger vans though it has a smaller engine and is also costlier than Maximo by 60k in soft version. Magic has a heart of around 700cc whereas Maximo is 990cc and good in fuel efficiency. Jeeto with 625cc should be much cheaper than already cheap Maximo.

Style-wise:
Front end of Jeeto looks good in its segment and if the same is pulled over to side and rear, then this vehicle may show good numbers not only in tourist business but in private too. Somehow Mahindra team got off the theme for Maximo and Supro but things look good for this. Rear window seems a pasted one, which shows that Mahindra is moving a step ahead of Tata.

Spotted many test mules over my commute today and another day previous week.

Also, one of the mules had the CNG sticker on the windshield.

Could spot red, white and the turquoise blue shades which Mahindra already has in their color palette.

Mahindra Jeeto-based passenger van spotted without camouflage

We have reported earlier that Mahindra is working on a passenger van based on the Jeeto light commercial vehicle (LCV). While camouflaged test mules of the vehicle have been spotted multiple times, a new set of spy shots shows the upcoming passenger van without any camouflage.

The images reveal that the front end of the Jeeto-based passenger van will be similar to that of its LCV sibling. The face is characterized by bubble-shaped headlamps with a grille running between them. A Mahindra logo is housed in the centre of the grille. Moving to the side, the luggage area of the Jeeto has been covered by a hard-top passenger compartment. It gets an entry door on the left, while the windows on both sides are made of tarpaulin to limit the final production costs. The front and rear bumpers, ORVMs and door handles are black in colour. The rear gets a boot door, a tarpaulin window and circular taillights.

I wonder what on earth Mahindra commercial vehicle's styling team is smoking. They should take some design cues from their Passenger car counterparts.

Actually I thought it would be better if it is other way around . IMO this segment needs robustness and reliability, which probably Mahindra can boast of more.
Also graduating from horrendous Gio, this design will surely win a beauty contest.

Mahindra & Mahindra has launched a people carrier version of the Jeeto pickup. The Jeeto Minivan is priced at Rs. 3.45 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai) for the diesel version. Petrol and CNG version will be added to the line-up in the coming months.



The Jeeto Minivan comes in two variants - hard top and semi-hard top. The interior is pretty basic, although a dual-tone interior with a modern dashboard and lockable glove box is available as an option. The driver and passenger get bucket seats with head restraints and seat belts while rear occupants get cushioned bench seats.

The diesel engine powering the Jeeto Minivan is a BSIV compliant m_Dura DI single-cylinder, water-cooled, 625 cc unit which produces 16 BHP and 38 Nm of torque. The power unit is mated to a 4-speed gearbox.

Mahindra claims a fuel economy figure of 26 km/l. It also comes with a 2 year/40,000 km warranty. The Jeeto Minivan is available in three color options- Sunrise Red, Ultramarine Blue and Diamond White.

Looking at the tail-lamps, Mahindra should contact Chevrolet for the remaining inventory of Spark Tail-lamps. They can use those on this vehicle in cheaper cost.

I keep seeing trending posts in social media about engine problems related to Mahindra Jeeto. It seems that there are many of these vans at-least here in Kerala having similar patterns of engine failures at relatively lower kilo-meters where in neither Mahindra nor TVS (dealer) are ready to help in getting things sorted. I do not have any direct contacts with the people in video to verify the facts but I did hear a few complaints from my local town as well.
