Chennai: Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) showcased its wide range of Bharat Stage VI range of BharatBenz trucks and buses in Chennai on Monday. The city-based commercial vehicle maker displayed over a dozen of medium and heavy duty trucks and buses.

The new product portfolio, compliant with BSVI, is now available in each region, the company said in a release.

Based on Profit+ technology, the new generation of Bharat Benz trucks will offer industry leading fuel efficiency, safety, comfort and reliability.

The BharatBenz trucks and buses will be powered by the OM926 and 4D34i engines. The key differentiator in the technology will be the after-treatment systems used in the vehicles. The BharatBenz trucks come with six years of warranty as standard and extended warranty of up to eight years. The trucks are claimed to have 20 per cent longer service interval and they offer six per cent less maintenance cost as well.

Speaking on the occasion Satyakam Arya, MD & CEO , DICV said "BharatBenz's new CV range offers customers the solution they need for the future, setting new benchmark for medium and heavy commercial vehicles. Going forward we will move from tonnage and focus on customized solutions for different applications."

Arya further said that the company has achieved more than 80 per cent localization in BSVI range and the company aspires to achieve 90 percent in near future.

With an investment of around Rs 500 crore, DICV developed new facilities and over 1000 new parts for BS-VI, all while achieving localization above 80 per cent.

Since its inception in 2012 in India, DICV has sold over 1 lakh units and exported 30,000 units to 50 countries thus far, Arya added.
