Ashok Leyland launches modular truck platform AVTR

Ashok Leyland claims that the AVTR platform will give the customers a choice to customize their vehicles as per their requirements, which in turn will deliver better operational economics and customer delight.

New Delhi: Ashok Leyland, the flagship company of the Hinduja Group on Thursday, has announced the launch of its new range of modular trucks, AVTR, that comes with i-Gen6 BS-VI technology.

As the commercial vehicle manufacturer claims, the AVTR truck range is based on a modular architecture which offers multiple options of axle configurations, loading spans, cabins, suspensions, and drivetrains on a single platform for the entire range of trucks, tippers and tractors in the 18.5T to 55T category.

Commenting on the AVTR truck range, Dheeraj Hinduja, Chairman, Ashok Leyland, said, “Ashok Leyland has always been ahead of the curve and leads the CV industry in terms of innovation. Our endeavour has always been to address the needs of our customers and deliver better profitability for them."

He also said, "The customer centric AVTR, will take our customers to the next level of trucking and they will reap the benefits of modularity. This unique modular platform puts us on the global map of CV manufacturers and will help us in our journey of realizing our vision.”

Vipin Sondhi, MD & CEO, Ashok Leyland, said, “With the launch of AVTR, we are very proud that we have achieved the dual challenge of meeting the BS-VI norms and development of a whole new platform, in one swift move. This gives us an edge not only in India but globally with its potential to switch between right-hand-drive and left-hand-drive. AVTR has the potential to deliver any kind of truck as per the customer’s specific requirement, in a very short time."

He further added, "This new platform has been extensively tested in different terrains and done over 6 million kilometers of the field running. Looks like power rating for HCVs have moved up to 200 hp in AL. Not too long ago, there will still 110-130 hp trucks and buses. It will be interesting to see how the bus market reacts to this.

Found this interesting test bus from AL. It was on a test run near Mangalore University. All the seats were loaded with plastic drums tied to the window rails

Two more models added to the Ashok Leyland AVTR Range - AVTR 2832 and AVTR 3532. They are powered by 8.0L A6 Series engines with iGEN6 technology and generate 320HP and deliver 1200NM torque.
