The Signa 5525.S 4X2 prime mover is powered by a Cummins 6.7-litre engine that puts out at 247 BHP and 950 Nm @ 1,000-1,800 rpm. The engine is mated to a 9-speed gearbox via a 430 mm organic clutch. The truck features a heavy-duty RA110 rear axle.

The Signa 5525.S comes with three driving modes - Light, Medium and Heavy as well as a Gear Shift Advisor, which helps in selecting the optimum power and torque required based on the load and terrain.

The truck comes with a 3-way mechanically adjustable driver seat, sleeper berth, title and telescopic steering and air-conditioning with ambient air temperature sensor. The cabin is crash tested and is suspended to lower NVH levels.

Safety features include a high seating position, bigger daylight opening, rear view mirror, blind spot mirror, solid steel 3-piece bumper as well as engine brake and iCGT brake.

The Signa 5525.S comes equipped with Tata's Fleet Edge digital fleet management system. Tata's entire M&HCV range comes with 6 years / 6 lakh km warranty.

Re: Tata Signa 5525.S 4X2 prime mover launched

I just couldn't understant why Tata and AL are so hesitant in providing a more powerful engine. Infact, AL has reduced the engine displacement and the cylinders are also down to 4 from 6.
The behemoths in US with their 600-hp cummins also deliver exactly the same fuel-efficiency as the overworked cute little ISBe 6.7.
950Nm of torque to pull 55 tons isn't justified.

Engine torque is compensated with very short gearing and that results in these trucks running out of torque-band at as low as 60kmph.

6.7l cummins is used in Dodge Ram trucks in USA and people buy them for recreational purposes.
We Indians sure do know how to squeeze out maximum efficiency out of everything.

p.s. Tata Marcopolo lowfloor buses also use similar 6.7l cummins

The set speed limit for such trucks is fairly low as well so the torque at lower speeds and with grossly overloaded payload is what matters.
