And of course, their ad with Ajay Devgn had to rip off the original Volvo Van Damme split.

Evidently, this is the Navistar design now in its new mini avatar.

(the Navistar clicked at an Auto Expo)

The boardroom must have deliberated, introspecting on the failure of the Navistar range. The marketing team must have been handed over the job to do extensive research and find out the causes for such a massive failure. It was branded as the Navistar Blazo, but that was too late in the day.

The deliberations:-

Marketing team: Sirs, we have done very extensive research to understand reasons for the failure of Navistar range. We could find the "O" missing from the name and that's the sole reason. The Blazo name was added too late in the day and sales reports were already in the negative territory. From day 1 the name Blazo should have been used.

Boardroom: Very intelligent marketing team. We respect your deep research into this topic and have decided unanimously to rename the LCV range as the Furio now from DAY ONE. The "O" is omnipresent now. And we are adding a lucky "7" as a suffix. There is no reason to see a failure now at all.

As far as I know, the new logo is only for the "premium" products. Currently, only the XUV7OO carries it. In future, the next generation Scorpio will sport it.

What a fall or Pininfarina. Going from designing some of the gorgeous cars to LCV's that look like scaled models of the Navistar range CV's. Luckily Ajay Devgan did not attempt the split because we all know Mahindra does not like imitation.

Mahindra Furio
The only thing similar in both the ADs is that they do the splits between the trucks. Ajay Devgn has been doing splits since a very long time, from his debut Phool Aur Kaante to the Golmaal movies and the makers seem to have banked on that signature move of his. And if there is ever a question as to who ever pulled off the greatest split, it's the legend himself

Do these new age trucks come in with standard air-conditioning, power steering and the like? At least the basic creature comforts needed for the drivers who I presume have a very tiring job

Power steering has been mandatory in Heavy CVs for at least 15 years IIRC. ICVs also moved to 100% power steering once drivers started getting picky - almost impossible to get a driver if the CV doesn't have PS. Every CV player in India offers an AC cab - it's up to the owner to pick the option or not. In Kerala, nearly every BS4 and later tipper lorry sold with the factory fitted cab has AC.

Here's something about the regulations:

The regulations are now updated to provide only blowers.
