Everyone thinks of Tesla and the numerous electric cars and personal vehicles when they think electric. Slowly but surely, urban mobility given the limited range and proximity to charging infrastructure will go electric, only question of how fast and not if.
However, this has not fully hit the commercial vehicle category except for e-rickshaws, or small urban delivery vehicles. Large size trucks and highway mile crunchers are still diesel and will continue to remain so for some time. The European and American commitment to climate change has turned its gaze to this segment as a quick win for zero carbon goals. i have been tracking commercial vehicle shipments to end customers and not just experimental vehicles and the annual report from Group Volvo caught my eye. Even with supply chain constraints during covid, Volvo/Renault have started shipping serious numbers and expect it to become nearly 40% by 2025.
