MoRTH has issued a draft notification regarding fitment of vehicle tracking device in goods carrier that is carrying hazardous goods.

I think this is a good initiative.

How do these vehicle tracking systems work? I mean besides the find the liquid oxygen truck. I think it would be a good idea to leverage on this technology and have a system which will alert the concern authorities.

e.g.
Fire brigade stations of a specific area get a live alert as soon as a the truck enters their locality and they can track the live progress on a map. That way they can get a heads up and be extra prepared. Ditto for ambulance services.
