hey yes, but i thinks those M800 headlamps seems fake headlamps. just like tata use in their Test cars. the other vesion has real lamps i guess.

Lots of copies here. How many variants(?) did you see tushky? |
there were 2 pick ups parked. and near Barista and cafe coffee day:confused: . which are not so happening places for test cars.
this is molt likely the "chana star". its a mid capacity chinese pik up, currently exported to mi-east, pakistan n parts of africa. probably comming to india thru AMW via ckd route.
It almost looks like the Pickup of Maruti Versa. Because the Body looks exactly like the Suzuki Carry Pick up.
A bit off topic maybe... Isn't this AMW basically the local collaboration of Chinese companies; but cleverly marketed to cover the Chinese roots?
Food for thought!
Looking at the windowsill line (the way it curves up), I am sure this has a passenger carrying variant (where that line has actually gone across the length of the van.)
This is for sure AMW product for sure....because one of the pics showing logo on steering has a Sundaram Clayton components box in background
shows village KANAIYABE written on it in the address, This place is in Bhuj district where AMW has its factory
OK guys, I think I figured it out. The vehicle is called 'Chana Star' and is made by Changan Auto in China.
Changan makes various Suzuki models and this is obviously based on the Every or Carry which is same as Maruti Versa. AMW has changed the headlights adopted the BMW kidney grille and probably some other changes too. Changan offers 1.0 and 1.3 petrols.
This looks very much like a CMC (China Motors Corporation) mini van that Eicher Motors had planned to bring to India. They had brought both the van version as well as the cargo version - but shelved the project for not having a suitable diesel power plant at that time (1997)
Hi freinds,
This indeed is a small LCV form AMW.. I have seen & sat in this when I had visited AMW plant in Bhuj. Body of this LCV is getting sourced from China... I will figure it from where.. The RTO pasing for this vehicle would be 1 Ton which would highest for any vehicle in this category. Right now setting up of production line side by side devlopment of components is taking place. This vehicle is expected by December or january 08.
There is also a passenger version of this but dont know if that also would be taken in production.
will keep you posted for more updates.
Here is a pic of the Chang'an pickup truck, crew cab.
Whats more, they even have a diesel powered 3-wheeler in their lineup.
Here is the passenger carrying variant, based on the Versa. I am sure if they launch a no-frills diesel, it will sell better than the Versa, even after its price cut.

I don't think it can be called rip-off if it is a chinese design and made in china. No one likes to talk about chinese origin of their products, not even the chinese company.

But, what about Chow-mein? (Yeah I admit Chowmein as we know it does not exist in China!! What an Irony)
i think they have already started selling the hcvs as some time back i read
that it had sold 100 units not sure(can anybody confirm),and personally i have seen 12 to 13 of these on my way to goa some were tractor trailers and some were ten wheelers.
btw i also saw some tata novus dumper trucks with permanant plates ,have they already started selling it?they were in use
Yes tata has started selling novus......dealers had to have some tools specially for these truck...did not get a chance to see what were they as the box had arrived when I was there for Indica servicing.
And yes again AMW have indeed sold 100 trucks...they have been in the market for more then a year now.
