A BMTC Volvo scraped past a truck which was taking a wrong U Turn on the ORR, went across a drain running along the left hand side of the road, and finally came to rest precariously balanced with one wheel almost resting in the uncovered drain. As per information from some locals present at the site, the truck along with its trailer was taking a U turn across the central median, where a legal U turn did not exist. One would do well to remember that it was pretty recently that the authorities raised the height of the central median to prevent such occurences, but nevertheless, some morons still decide to push their luck.

The BMTC Volvo plying on the 500 series route was the bus which was involved. When this BHPian reached the scene, the truck along with its trailer and driver were absent/removed from the scene of the accident, possibly fearing mob violence. The incident took place around 4:30 - 5PM, and this being the time when people return from their offices, the ORR soon got crowded with traffic and onlookers.

Surprisingly, there was no mention of the same in the TOI this morning.

Some pictures from the scene.

Good to see that the driver of Volvo able to control his vehicle. Hope no one is injured in the incident

Oye...TBHP Citizen journalist!!!!!

Nice pics Benny, which part of the ring road did this happen, Marthahalli - Sarjapur Rd part?
Also I am wondering why one of tyres gone flat?

Abhi

@roy. the tyre is stripped off the rim, due to the skid.

Benny reporting from the scene of the accident. lol. Good one benny. You just got a bit of news that even the TOI missed out.

Like Abhi said, even I would like to know where this occured.

Looks scary, Imagine some smaller vehicle instead of volvo bus.

It was a bus and therefore the big tyres could cross the drain, smaller vehicle would have had its nose in the drain and the front wheels/arm damaged.

Abhi, Vid : This was on the way from Innovative Multiplex towards Bellandur junction, right in front of the JP Morgan building.

@ dadu: The bus couldnt cross the drain actually. It actually flew over it owing to the momentum, i guess. There was a huge melee when they were trying to pull it back onto the road/service road.

Let these pics explain :

Tow Truck gets stuck in the mud

Bus gets hooked to Tow truck No 1

Tow truck no 2 gets stuck... again, almost at the risk of falling into the drain itself !!

In what was quite a challenging task, both trucks try to lift the bus to the service road

They get the bus's back wheel as close to the drain as possible.

What happens now? They place 2 wheels from some other bus in the drain and then try to run this over those in order to cross the drain.

Interestingly, the bus doesnt do so, and the right rear wheel falls right INTO the drain !! Imagine the scene. It was getting dark by then (7:15 PM) rendering my mobile camera useless, and so i left. Have no idea if the bus was still there this morning.
