Maruti Suzuki Super Carry first-in-segment to get ESP

The Maruti Suzuki Super Carry is now available with advanced safety features like ESP. It is the first LCV in its segment to get this feature.

The Super Carry is also equipped with Engine Drag Control (EDC), which prevents wheel slip during sudden deceleration, traction control, and ABS with EBD and Hydraulic Brake Assist.

The Super Carry is powered by a 1.2-litre K-Series Dual Jet, 4-cylinder engine that produces 80 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 104.4 Nm @ 2,900 rpm. It is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The Super Carry also comes with a CNG option. It uses the same 1.2-litre engine, however, peak output is restricted to 71 BHP and 95 Nm in CNG mode.

Gasoline Deck – Rs 5.64 lakh
Gasoline Cab Chassis – Rs 5.49 lakh
CNG Deck – Rs 6.64 lakh
CNG Cab Chassis – Rs 6.49 lakh

Looks like Maruti be like, "Okay, we were forced to. But we are going to make sure that we put it in everything so that we have economies of scale."

That said, the Super Carry really needed improved braking. Stops just okayish, but the pedal feel is extremely wooden. Have to stand on it if you are above 50 km/h/have heavy load and needs to stop quickly. Hope the hydraulic brake assist rectifies it. Traction control... Would it help in situations where one of the rear tyres has lost grip and the open differential helplessly spins the tyres? Or will it just cut the power?

Wow, someone at MSIL has really changed how they operate ! Launching non legislated features in cost sensitive segments is something that they would never have done in the past and now they are on a roll - 6 Airbags in an Alto, ESP on an LCV (one of the most cost sensitive segments that does not even have an ABS mandate!)

I am loving this new MSIL
