Ashok Leyland LSV - Any News?

Does any one has an Idea when LSV of Ashok Leyland or Tata are going to be launched. Especially the Ashok one mentioned below.

Except from Mahindra Axe have not heard anything.

Do you think life of 4x4s which we are driving would remain same after these vehicles would be launched?

LSV - LIGHT SPECIALIST VEHICLE

Ashok Leyland LSV - Any News?-lsv.jpg
The LSV is an all-wheel drive (4X4), multi-purpose, all-terrain vehicle. With a power-to-weight ratio in excess of 25kW/tonne, it is a versatile performer even in the worst of terrains.

The fixed windscreen on the driver's side enhances driver comfort without being exposed to the vagaries of nature while the drop-down windscreen on the left side, enables the commander to fire the LMG in a wide arc from his command post. A conveniently located trap door facilitates easy operation of the rocket launcher. This air/helicopter transportable vehicle also has a collapsible tent on the right side. Excellent communication is ensured by a powerful radio set with its own power source. The LSV can carry a crew of 4 besides the driver and the commander and can be made self-contained with sufficient rations, water, utensils, stove, bedding, etc.

The design of the vehicle lends itself for easy adaptation to a number of applications such as Observation Post, Reconnaissance and Surveillance vehicle, Ambulance, Field artillery tractor and a host of other applications. Both armoured and unarmoured bodies options are available.

The vehicle is currently undergoing trials at the Vehicle Research & Development Establishment, Ahmednagar, and also high-altitude, peak winter trials in Leh

so vectra is also in the game eh? I'm hoping TATA brings in the IVECO army version (using their fiat links) and the LR Defender (they own it) for the Indian Army. both of them are ultra capable vehicles.

The vectra is in fact a JEEP from Kaiser. The model is M715. Its been brought to the army by Kia in association with Tatra if I am not mistaken.

its the british army in those photos, my friend! not yanks!

also i have owned and driven LR Defender during my days in Africa!

american special forces in afghanistan were using humvees, which were too heavy, diesel engine, too big and clumsy, which were useless against the enemy using toyota hiluxs!

so toyota america gifted 100 free toyota hiluxs to america SFs to use them instead of humvees provided the toyota badge should not be removed from the hiluxs!

here are some photos for your reference!

1. the clumsy humvee
2. yank SFs with hiluxs

the rest of the photos i need noy say anything!

If its a tatra connection then i doubt it has anything to do with Jeep. As Vectra of UK is the one of three owners of Tatra.
