Thanks V1kram.

It reminds me of the truck body building in New Delhi, with those chassies parked in the open and work going. The development of the body is really an interesting view.

Is n't it rare to see a Tata chasis at a Karur body builder? Which model is this?
May be headed for Mangalore/Kasargod/Kannur area? or for some Neighbouring SRTCs?

Nothing like that, there are quiet a few private operators who prefer TATA over Ashley, also some institutions. The main reason as per my friend who owns couple of buses is the dealership which doesn't have proper back-up and availability of spares. as per his opinion, TATA buses are good for city use and provides better mileage and are equally good to Ashley.

Not sure about the model though since the badge was missing on both the chassis. I think it might be 1512C

, Just take a picture in your mobile phone anything you like or explain them what theme you have in your mind, vehicle will be ready in a day or two. Really those people are very good in executing the design/paintings. If you are very much interested to meet them in person, i will let you know during my next visit.

Re: Visit to a Bus Body Building Facility

Thanks a bunch for the pictures from AE. AE unit looks really good. Try to get a pic from the gate near Coimbatore road, so that we will get a full view of AE unit.

Bus is coming up very well. Roof sheets with lines will tell you that it is a typical AE built bus. Waiting to see this guy soon in Pollachi-Coimbatore route.

Some story about AE:
Old AE unit was present in Good Shed Road, Pollachi. This was splitted into two when TN govt took over the buses from ABT and formed Cheran Transport Corporation. Subsequently CTC is named as TNSTC-CBE and the unit now the body building arm of TNSTC-CBE. It is one of the biggest body building units that is present in all TN STUs. Earlier it was called as Cheran Engineering Corporation(CEC). The old unit of AE near to CEC became too small and it is closed now. Some of the old private buses built by AE used to have the address as AE, Good Shed Road, Pollachi.

Re: Visit to a Bus Body Building Facility

Am i feeling that AE coach is copying the design used by Shillibear for their buses. Attaching one pic of a bus built by shillibear.

This design is requested by us, though AE didn't agree for this design initially and they tried to convince us with their standard designs.

The basic theme is from VDL (Futura - Coach of the year 2012), which we liked, since already few of the builders (including Shillibear) opted for this design, we requested AE to build the same for us.
