Scoop!! Tata Ace Van..Killer Of Omni.-2889.jpg

The TATA van is similar in size to the M&M Voyager and will also be targeting a similar customer segment. Hope they learn from the Voyager's mistakes before they embark on this adventure.

are you kidding bro? the voyager was huge in size and in price too. it was around 8-9 lacs if i remember right. and it was a total failure due to many other reasons too.

there is no comparison between the voyager and other vans

The Voyager looked outdated before launch, even by Indian standards in those days. A noisy engine, lethargic performance, niggling troubles didnt help either. On yes, it was over priced as well.

agree:

But, I had clearly mentioned that TATA has to learn from the Voyager's mistakes and that includes product positioning, pricing etc.

Also the size comparison was because in the pics the TATA van looked similar in size to the voyager.

But this is an all new 7/8 seater van TATA is trying now which is totally different than the Mahindra Voager.

Voyager was actually old generation Mitsubishi L300 maxi van. Also the passenger capacity of L300 is 10+ similar to Tata winger.

Tata must have learnt by the fact why TATA Winger not doing so well is also more due to the outdated Renanult design not catching up with large Indian families to consider as a personal vehicle.

They should have said the indicruz and not this one. This vehicle in
no way can compete with Innova/Xylo which are bigger and better than this.

The TATA Van would not compete with the Innova / Xylo - that would be the Indicruz, while the new Van would indeed take on the slot between the big hit Omni and the flop Versa directly headon. (Mahindra Voyager is a size bigger and would not be comparable.)

hi there a contest for suggesting a name for this van, please pour in some good names that signify this VAN

May be TATA is getting ready for the Suzuki APV? and also any customers who would want a "better omni". But overall this is a good decision for TATA since they are leveraging their existing platform.

Now that they have started to focus on the "looks", hopefully all their future vehicles would be VFM as well as good looking.

Somebody already suggested this in this thread "Indiva"

The engine is placed pretty much lower unlike the Sumo and it is going to be approximately the same height (maybe marginally taller) than the current Ace. Shouldn't be a cause for worry.

fantastic name:thumbs up

TATA to should launch the vehicle as TATA - VAN1 and then run a contest to find the right name for it through the TV. Would be unique, get them publicity and get the public excited.

If my memory serves right, though the Voyager was the result of the joint venture between Mahindra and Mitusbishi, Mitsubishi played a crucial role only in designing the body of the vehicle. The engine was purely Mahindra's. That could have been one of the reasons for its failure too. Sorry for the :OT
