BSIII/IV buses in Mumbai/Metros

Have been looking out for a BSIII / BSIV bus Chassis for registation in Mumbai (Actually Navi Mumbai where BSIII Norms apply today).

Would be heavily modifying the Bus Chassis into a Demo Center. Require it to be of the size of Volvo buses for the right external impression. 12 mtrs.

Problem: TATA dealer in Mumbai are only carrying BSII variants in 12 mtrs size and BSIII variants in 10 mtrs size while I require BSIII varinat in 14 mtrs. Am sure that TATA has a plan for this, but need to do this ASAP, and can't wait for the TATA to make an announcement.

Volvo chassis cost min of 3 times the cost of a TATA chassis of the same size so Volvo is out.

Any Advise on how to go about this?
Also any recommneded guys for modifying busses in Mumbai (keeping DC aside) Have already met a couple of guys but am not confident of their workmanship and DC is expensive for this type of work.

Why don't you approach the Leyland Dealer instead? Automotive (near Uran Phata) is the Ashok Leyland Dealer for Mumbai region. Perhaps they might be able to help you out.

But Volvo doesn't sell Bare Chassis. You have to get it fully built from them.

Ruby (Ahmedabad), Antony (Rabale/Mahape), In-Coach (Vikhroli), Bharat (Kurla/Taloja), Auto Body (Pune) are some reputed firms around Mumbai that specialise in body building. They might be able to help out.

Ruby is one of the good one. I guess they are/were the builder for Tata buses too.

I dont think its available in India.
Intercity buses are max 12m only except the vestibule buses which are 18m.

Thank you for the responses.

Yep will check with the suggested Coach Makers - the Question is who is good at Custom Jobs - Like Sides Opening up etc.

Also there is a confusion on 12-14 mtrs buses. The Chassis seem to be 12 mtrs as per TATA.

Also Front and Rear Engine config need to be sorted out.

For a "Demo Center", Did you consider a truck chasis instead of bus?

Was indicated that registration of a Bus chassis as a demo vehicle with capacity to carry 8 passengers as well would be easier to register rather than a truck chassis.
