DIY: Chrome Beading for your Car / SUV

After seeing my brother in law's new car chrome beading (on the windows & grille), ordered a set of Chrome beading.

Brief details below as the pictures speak for themselves!

1. Ordered online - Price around Rs 700 for 1 Set
2. Qty - 10 Mtrs - did not measure though looks sufficient for many cars.
3. Delivery - Got it within 3 days , nicely packed
4. Instructions to apply are given in the product

My time to Apply:

1. 20 Minutes - Just measure , Cut & apply ( did not follow their instruction to keep the gum temperature at 65F, so I'm not sure how long it would stick).
2. Very simple to apply
3. Does not create any harm to paint - Just did a sample application on previous day & removed without any damage to paint.
4. Do not know whether the chrome part has light plastic covering, have to check once again.

I did not do a neat job as I was in a hurry to get my alloys buffed. Since this is just like two sided tape gum, one could do it any time by removing the existing one.

Adding pictures.
The Applications on Mirror, Door handle & Spare wheel cover were for testing as i had few cut pieces left. One could paste it with neat cutting , it looks really good.

Also, while measuring the grill, the edge cutting should be consistent so that there will not be any gaps.

Looks like an interesting cosmetic modification. Could you share how strong is the adhesive on this? Can it be pulled out by a child? Or in case a passer by (pedestrian) brushes against this, can it come out from a edge or corner?

as per the instruction, before application, the gum needs to be heated a bit by hot air ( may be with a hair dryer). I did not follow this. It may not be pulled by a child, but yes, with a bit of force, it comes out (did not harm the paint when i applied a test patch on the spare wheel cover & removed it next day).

Re: DIY: Chrome Beading for your Car / SUV

I have recently ordered one from Amzon for my XUV, wanted to cover the side window trims, the stock adhesive tape was not at all good, it just came out after few hours of application....

How is it holding in your case?

Re: DIY: Chrome Beading for your Car / SUV

Can anyone recommend a Mumbai based chrome roll beading expert?

While I could easily DIY, I was hoping someone with experience will offer better finish, and longer-lasting chrome beading.

Opera House, I'll hit-up, one of these days. Cheers!
