I would have spent 25% of the value of car just to get a flush done from a mechanic.

Agree with all your comments, but I have taken the decision not to open the sump to reduce complexity. Now that I have done it once & if I plan to do it in 2 years time, I will certainly open the sump and change the filter. I saw the existing fluid to be in very good condition on first drain, and that gave the confidence just to change the ATF and leave rest as it is.
