Re: Ford EcoSport DIY: Installing / Replacing the driver-side Master power window switch [quote=topse;5184688]The thought of giving it a try the self installation of master power window switch of my Ecosport was striking my mind since 2019 when it started giving frequent trouble during the monsoon season as rain droplets got inside the switch assembly which caused corrosion because of physical and chemical reaction between metal connectors with rain water. But also due to the subsequent global pandemic and lockdown, the matter was further delayed. I always loved to do DiY staffs, be it regarding any household appliance, my bike or car. Rather than relying on others (mostly many inexperienced mechanics causing more harm than good ) and spending hefty for simple tasks which can be done much easily and at far lesser cost if one wants to learn new things and interested about DiY. But I became a bit lazy as the lockdown was lifted and other passenger side switches were functioning properly. And here came the news of Ford's departure from India in Sep, 2021 as a big shock. Now again that thought of self reliance (yes its the DiY thing again ) struck me. I first searched for that switch assembly for Ecosport in Boodmo but unfortunately the app was very confusing and not at all user friendly. The part was listed with different prices but without any photos or specification, never understood if any of those parts were listed can be a power window switch and can be purchased without risk. So, I started searching for replacement switch assembly in local Ford authorized SC in Kannur, they said the part is not in stock and they need to order which will take minimum of one week. Later I tried enquiring in various local car parts shop in Kannur and most of them reminded me of Ford's departure hence difficulty of getting Ford OEM parts. One shop told me they can order it for me but again it will take min 7-10 days, also price they quoted was approx Rs. 4600 (MRP) which is also way too much just for a simple electrical switch consisting of few copper connectors mounted on plastic holders. I got little apprehended since its not even two weeks that Ford had left India and availability of even basic/essential parts are becoming a problem. I did a google, found one OEM switch assembly which was a second hand (later found) at a much cheaper price and ordered it without any delay. The Rs 2700 switch came just within three days from Mumbai to Kasergod, Kerala (my job location). Did the DiY job the very next day. Below I am posting a detailed step-by-step video that I recorded for the purpose, which may help other Ecosport owners or owners with car having power window (since functionality of power window and switch assembly is almost same in most of the cars.)
