I did the evaporator cleaning last weekend with a foam cleaner spray (Mannol 9971). The evaporator coil was clean without a speck of dirt on it (probably because I change the cabin filters on time). This was the condition of the evaporator coil viewed with the phone through the cabin filter cavity:
The drain hole is not easily accessible on the diesel Polo/Vento since the turbo + EGR assy blocks the rear of the engine in front of the firewall. Not accessible from below the car either. OTOH, on the petrol models, this is easy and can be accessed:
I used the spray through the central AC vents (being closest to the evaporator coil) and through the cabin filter cavity and went with the instructions on the back of the can.
Since the coil was clean, I really doubt if this activity helped in my case. I had kept a drain tray at the bottom to check the drained water + foam mix - came clean. |
