DIY:Santro Meter Console Light with Bright Blue L.E.D.

One thing which looked boring in my santro was the Meter Console Lights, the white and green looked horrible, ever since i purchased santro,

Last year i replaced the Speedo-Meter Back lit bulbs with 2 x 10mm Blue L.E.D.
As 10MM were not available in local market i purchased them from ebay last year or so. Light looked attractive but was little dull due to light emitted from single L.E.D. on each side (the main area inside the console is illuminated via 2 bulbs)

Today I opened the Meter Panel and replaced the Single L.E.D.'s with 3 Blue L.E.D. and Filed the Top of L.E.D. so Light gets spread instead of falling on one circle.

Here's what all i did.
my Old 10mm LED looked good but were not bright enough
DIY:Santro Meter Console Light with Bright Blue L.E.D.-oldblue.jpg

Took out the 2 Bulb holder
DIY:Santro Meter Console Light with Bright Blue L.E.D.-consolebulb.jpg

Removed OLD L.E.D. from Holder
DIY:Santro Meter Console Light with Bright Blue L.E.D.-holder.jpg

Inserted New 100ohm 1/4w resistor.
DIY:Santro Meter Console Light with Bright Blue L.E.D.-resistor.jpg

Prepared 3 LED Series by first twisting Anode of one L.E.D. and Cathode of 2nd L.E.D.
DIY:Santro Meter Console Light with Bright Blue L.E.D.-twist.jpg

Twisted Another to make it 3 L.E.D.
DIY:Santro Meter Console Light with Bright Blue L.E.D.-3led.jpg

put it together into the Holder.
DIY:Santro Meter Console Light with Bright Blue L.E.D.-ready_front.jpg

cut the Extra Wire so it can be Bend to match the Holder size.
DIY:Santro Meter Console Light with Bright Blue L.E.D.-ready1.jpg

Prepared L.E.D. for both sides
DIY:Santro Meter Console Light with Bright Blue L.E.D.-ready2.jpg

Took the Console Out, First removed the Outer Cover Gently,
then Found one Screw on top, and one on each bottom side.
DIY:Santro Meter Console Light with Bright Blue L.E.D.-consoleout.jpg

Back Side of Meter Console it Little Complicated.
you have Fiber-optic sheet (if iam not referring to blue sheet wrongly)
DIY:Santro Meter Console Light with Bright Blue L.E.D.-consoleback.jpg
then placed the newly made LED Holder in the 2 Holes you see on the above pic, you may need to remove bulb and then again insert it with other side up if it was down in 1st attempt, as polarity may be different/confusing.

Then Re-Connect the 2 power connectors
DIY:Santro Meter Console Light with Bright Blue L.E.D.-reconnect2.jpg

You must have noticed its too bright on one spot.

Used a FILE and rubbed it to make L.E.D. top bit hazy so light spreads instead of making a focused Beam.

And Finally, In the DARK you Get the Best Looks on your Existing Console with not Much Cost

Not Bad when it costs me under Rs.10/-

Hi Lightiung expert, Have been a frequenter for your LED magics you had done on your Santro. Nice work and hobby buddy. Keep it up. The blue dash rocks.
One small tipp - try to find if your camera has got a macro option. With macro you can shoot pictures as close as just a couple of centimeters.
I understand how intricate it is to play in between such small gaps. 1 doubt. I see the transparent LEDs focussing straight at 160 and 40. Could this be scattered by emerying the LED lens and making it scatter light rather than focussing sharply. My apologies if the idea sounds stupid.

Hey Yo!

Ghpk is a L.e.d freak ...just like me. only difference is that he knows all the technical stuff that most of us dont!

I've known him for over a year ...from youtube. He's got some pretty cool video's there about flashers and L.e.d strips etc etc

<<< If the cops catch us with all the flashing l.e.d's on!!

good work with the speedo lights dude, and you need a new camera!

peace.

hey, where did you get those blue LED holders

PS: if you are are goint to be running them all the time, use 150 Ohm or more. My number plate lamps havent survived with 100 Ohm resistors for more than a few months

Hi greenhorn, i got those holders with the Blue L.E.D. i purchased off ebay.
but they do come in market for some bikes, try looking for it on a bike electric part seller.

was your number plate light having 3 LED's in series ?
I've under dash light with 100ohm resistor and they work fine since last one year.

L.E.D. More L.E.D. in Center Console of Santro

Added Blue Back lit effect to Center Control of Santro, The Area where A.C./Air controls are located is now much Brighter, Always felt this Area should have been more lively than what is offered as O.E.M.

the above pic is when 6 Extra L.E.D. from near Gear Shift are placed pointing towards console, its too much Blue and Bling

known as T10 194

these are two white bulbs which can be replaced on any T10 194 holder.

Also purchased a flexible, Stick-able L.E.D. strip which came with 3M Tape at back and can be used as Eye Lashes to your head-lights, sadly the shop had only one blue left and other one was RED+Blue.
pic soon

Re-done the Central Console L.E.D's

Few L.E.D.'s were gone Kaput, cause they were using 150ohm resistor which poped them in few months.

This time I've Used L.E.D. Strips. Purchased it at Rs.250/meter.

Also Installed a Light in AshTray, As i don't use it, coin/toll passes can be easily seen now.

Door Light work postponed for a couple of days.

Enjoy the pics.

you can cut the strips after each 3 L.E.D.'s you'll notice 4 Dots, where the cut can be made.
the dots are the +ve and -ve terminals where you would solder a wire to power them up.

yes its a littleold thread started by me only, so instead of starting another I've updated the existing thread with improvements to lights installed earlier.
