hey Folks, since I work for a semiconductor company I am a regular visitor at http://www.anandtech.com. To those who dont know, Anandtech is like teambhp of the semiconductor world . Companies like Intel/AMD/Nvidia/Arm look to get positive reviews from these guys for their products. It even affects their share prices.

Coming to the point, I was pleasantly surprised to see an article about electric vehicles on the website post the Tesla controversy running in US. Please do read through the article below to get more data on how electric cars perform in varying conditions and what exactly is real life performance.

^^^ Anandtech is superb in content and detail. But, it is not a true forum is it? Most of the quality content is published by Anandtech's own team, it would seem.

There isn't a doubt that the range of electric vehicles falls in extreme temperatures. EVs require a lot more route planning in terms of range & charging stations than conventional cars. Equally, the range of today's EVs is enough for 99% of car owners out there. Use it like a mobile phone; every night, give the batteries a full charge . Good thing is, as battery tech progresses, so will the effective range of EVs.

I've been following the NYT vs Tesla controversy closely. Though Broder's review seems convincing, it's clear that he manipulated the truth out of bias (or whatever reasons). That's the worst way to review a car.

There's a new term coined by Tesla S owners when they actually managed to complete the same east coast drive in 6 Tesla S.

Brodering - the act of running out of charge due to human error.

Yes you are right. Content is published by the their team only. Its not an open forum to publish content.

Broder's review is based on his personal experience which is the fact but I think he seemed to have base lined his expectations on marketing info and rather than some of the fine print. As a reviewer he should have been more educated about the product and limitations and his review could have represented those than just bashing Tesla.

Not to say that Tesla is not to blame, I am certain Tesla would have lot of claims about their range just like our Indian auto guys quote Arai figures
